The books about Kurt Wallander have been filmed several times.

Rolf Lassgård, Krister Henriksson and Kenneth Branagh have all played Henning Mankell's police.

But the new Netflix series Young Wallander takes the turns in a way that has not been done before.

Adam Pålssons plays a young policeman who lives in Rosengård - and everyone speaks English.

Netflix hopes that the series will reach a larger audience.

- It may seem a little confusing to us Swedes.

In the rest of the world it is probably not so confusing, they probably appreciate that it is in English.

"Know our temperament"

Young Wallander is an international production, where most of the actors are British.

And Adam Pålsson had to work hard to fix the recording.

- The trick was to think that I have a superpower: I am Swedish.

I know the environments, our temperament and Wallander.

I may not be the best in English, but I'm the best in Sweden.

Empathetic and life-weary

And he hopes that the audience will still recognize Kurt Wallander's person.

- I created him from the books.

He's a very empathetic, but life-weary guy.

He seems quite tough and hard, but he is driven by incredibly strong compassion and a love for the little man.

In addition, he is quite romantic.
