Cases have been increasing since February.

A horse was recently found mutilated in a field in Châtillon-sur-Indre (Indre).

The animal had a deep gash but no vital organs were affected.

His ears were also not targeted, unlike some similar attacks.

According to France Bleu Berry, who released the information on Wednesday, the news of this case had been circulating for several days on social networks.

An investigation was opened by the Châteauroux public prosecutor's office.

Many cases since February

The department's gendarmerie is in the process of contacting the owners in order to establish a precise mapping, and possibly set up surveillance of the premises, specifies the local radio.

These cases of horses found mutilated and some dead are growing and pushing some breeders to equip themselves with cameras or set up guard towers.

In total, around thirty equines have been discovered mutilated for seven months in France.

Other other cases have just been identified in Loire-Atlantique and in Morbihan.

The motivations of the perpetrators of these acts are for the moment a mystery.
