The public television group uses 16 cartoon heroes "Okoo" to educate children on barrier gestures.

Tiphaine de Raguenel, director of the young audience and animation pole of France Télévisions, explains the device in "Culture Médias".

How to make children aware of barrier gestures against Covid19 without worrying them?

To carry out this complex mission, France Télévisions has chosen to use the heroes of its

Okoo

offer

Launched in December 2019, this public television youth program is available on France 3, France 4 and France 5.

Okoo

is also a video on demand application available on mobile

phones

and tablets.

"The idea is to have a simple speech"

No less than 16 heroes are thus mobilized in an information campaign called

Raconte-moi les gestes barriers

.

Everyone is present in one of the 16 spots broadcast since Monday, August 31 on the antennas of France 3, France 4 and France 5, but also on the france.tv, Lumni platforms and, of course, on the

Okoo

application

.

The children will find Little Brown Bear, Tchoupi, the PJ Masks, Boule & Bill, the Aces of the Jungle and Angélo la Débrouille.

"The idea is to have a simple, easily understandable speech, supported by images and to always have a positive and reassuring tone", explains at the microphone of

Culture Médias

the director of the young public and animation pole of the company, Tiphaine de Raguenel.

The content has been validated by the government information service to ensure good health advice.

A campaign adapted to different ages

And since a child does not understand the health context in the same way at 4 or 10 years old, France Télévisions has decided to adapt to two different age groups.

"To reassure the children, we made the choice in

Tell me the barrier gestures

to promote identification by relying on characters they know well. Eight heroes for the oldest and eight heroes for pre-school children ", lists Tiphaine de Raguenel.

In detail,

Raconte-moi les gestes barriers

has eight spots for 3-6 year olds, and eight others for 6-12 year olds.

"For the little ones, the demonstration is often very didactic, without second degree and one resorts to rhymes or songs to facilitate comprehension", specifies the director of the pole young public and animation of France Televisions.

"For older children, we complete the demonstration with a lot of humor and winks to the audience which also help to reassure the children."

The

Tell me barrier gestures

campaign

was produced during the summer, "in record time" according to Tiphaine de Raguenel, and with the active participation of each producer of the 16 cartoons.
