On September 2, the reporter learned from the Yunnan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology that researchers discovered a group of three 6.4 million-year-old Chinese monkey fossil specimens in the reservoir of Zhaotong, Yunnan.

The discovery of this group of fossils confirms that the ancestor of the golden monkey proposed by scientists was evolved from a monkey animal in Yunnan.

The research results were recently published online in the authoritative international anthropology journal "Human Evolution".
