Dada was born in 1996. The lead singer and guitarist Peng Tan and bassist Wei Fei formed the Dada band in Wuhan; then at the invitation of Peng Tan, drummer Zhang Ming joined; in 1999, after lead guitar Wu Tao joined the band , The band members are officially fixed.
In July 2019, the four members of the Dada band were on the same stage for the first time after 14 years of each other. "We are a Wuhan band from 20 years ago. From 1999 to 2019, sorry for being out of contact for so long." The voice trembled slightly. Pen Tan's mixed feelings and the reunion with the fans who have been waiting for many years made him feel like his life is coming back.
After that, Dada announced the reorganization and officially signed with Modern Sky.
In the summer of 2020, the Dada band released their first song after returning from 15 years-"Goodbye".
From leaving without saying goodbye to now reorganizing and returning, this sentence of "Goodbye" made us wait for too long.

2000
Embark on the train to Beijing
The lead singer was only 22 that summer
In early May 2000, the band used limited equipment to record and complete the first music demo, which included nine original works.
Later, this music demo was recommended by Wuhan Audiovisual to Xu Xiaofeng, the managing director of Beijing Warner Music, and Song Ke, the music director.
The day after the audition, the two “big guys” in the circle flew directly to Wuhan to watch the band’s live performance, and then confirmed their intention to sign.
In the summer of 2000, four boys left their hometown of Wuhan and embarked on a train to Beijing.
This year, Pentan was 22 years old.

There are so many young and frivolous
In 2004, the Dada band held a "Golden Age" concert at the Beijing Exhibition, and the venue was packed with 2,000 people.
Peng Tan later recalled that in the three years from 2001 to 2004, the band gained countless fans and performed many performances across the country. Especially when he participated in a national tour with Pu Shu and Lao Lang, it was highly sought after by fans. I feel like a star."
However, several young members did not adapt to the so-called Vanity Fair.
Especially when they positioned themselves as a rock band, they were promoted as a sweet and popular idol band.
After they came to Beijing, they also had a lot of favorite underground rock musicians, but after watching each other's performance, they didn't dare to go "talk up".
"Our personalities are relatively subtle, and we didn't really understand the Beijing circle at the time; secondly, because of the company's restrictions, it was impossible for us to go to the platter show with these musicians or do some cooperation."
The music critics and the rock music media are not friendly to them either, and they openly bombard their songs as too popular and lack the rock spirit.
Pen Tan felt misunderstood and suppressed, and for a while, he stayed at home and played games.
Behind the various achievements and imbalances, huge unknown struggles are quietly accumulating.
Later, Pen Tan described: "It's like a net that cannot be torn apart on the body".
In this way, in the imbalance and split between self and reality, Dada ushered in their "golden age".
The young Dada naturally can't hide from the frivolous youth. They left nothing but talk more than once. They never forgot to step down on their opponents when they won the prize. Their words of "running" the zero-point band back then are still embarrassing.
2005
The band disbanded quietly

Next, the company faced a major reorganization and personnel adjustments, after a long winter.
In 2005, the Dada band quietly disbanded, and the band members went their separate ways.
After the disbandment, Wu Tao turned to music production and tried to collaborate with other bands; Zhang Ming left Beijing to teach drums in the piano industry in Wuhan; Wei Fei attended the three-year class at the CRBT company, and then opened a pizza restaurant.
When the e-commerce market gradually matured, he started selling clothes on Taobao.
And that period was the gloomiest period of Pen Tan.
He couldn’t find the direction for a while, and he didn’t know what he should do. He wanted to deliver the courier and be a barista, and finally started to do music again with the encouragement of his friends, and started to be an indie musician by himself-he put the band I sorted out the scattered works written after the disbandment, and then found Wu Tao, and completed those scattered works together, and assembled them into the work of Peng Tan's solo album "Juvenile Story".

In June 2020, Dada released their comeback single "Goodbye", a goodbye, spanning 15 years.
In the single's MV, the four members of the band returned to their hometown of Wuhan. That was the place where everything began. The sealed memory seemed to be opened again. The shore of East Lake, the market wharf... They went to this scene together along the traces of walking as a teenager. The belated agreement, "Just for the last goodbye."
In the second season of "Summer of the Band", the first song sung by Dada was "South".
"South" was included in the "Golden Age" album at the time. It was just a simple work and did not get much expectation.
However, more than ten years later, this song makes people cry when they hear it, and it has become a youthful memory of a generation.
After the reorganization of the Dada Band, there is no specific goal for how Dada will develop and what achievements it will achieve.
For them, it is enough to lose the baggage and focus on the music itself.
Nowadays, the Dada band is not always competing against each other 20 years ago when rehearsing. Everyone is relaxed and everyone enjoys the process of making music.
The band translated the English song title of "Goodbye" as "See You Again": This simple farewell word here no longer means the end, but the expectation for the future and another new beginning.
