[Poverty Alleviation Story] Raising chickens and vegetables on campus!

This school is only to improve student life

The Wudaoqing Township Central School, located in Puge County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan, is a key ethnic boarding school with a total of 1252 students in 26 classes.

In order to improve the learning and living conditions of school students, the school established a campus farm in 2016 with two bases for planting and breeding.

The planting base grows seasonal vegetables in seasons, and the breeding base mainly raises chickens, which can generate nearly 70,000 yuan in income a year.

There is also a farming cultural park next to the farm for students to learn and experience farming culture.

The principal of the school, Aku Rihuo, said that all income from the farm is used to improve the food for teachers and students in the school and buy learning materials for poor students.

In addition, the students can also bring back the scientific farming methods learned on the farm to their parents who are farming at home.
