[Explanation] Recently, the reporter learned that nearly a hundred oriental white storks are clustered in the Shengli Management Station of Naolihe National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang. This is the largest indigenous white stork community that has emerged in recent years.

[Explanation] It is understood that the Oriental White Stork is known as the "Panda in the Bird" and is a first-class protected animal in China. The global population has less than 4,000. With the continuous improvement of the ecological environment, there will be more than 1,000 Oriental white storks "settled" in China's Sanjiang Plain in 2020.

It is very rare to see the Oriental White Stork five years ago, and I usually don’t see it because it is very small in number. In the past few years, we can basically see it, because now there are more, and it inhabits the Naoli River Basin. The number is now twice what it was five years ago.

[Explanation] According to relevant experts, with the implementation of measures such as returning farmland to wetland and artificial nesting in the reserve in recent years, the ecological environment has been continuously improved, and the living environment of the Oriental White Stork is slowly recovering. At present, native breeding individuals are gradually integrating group.

Through our investigations over the past few years, in 18 years, the reserve made 32 artificial nests of eastern white storks. In 19 years, 8 nests were occupied, and the occupancy rate was relatively high. Our local breeding individuals gradually integrated into a group to inhabit here, indicating that our place is very suitable for the reproduction of Oriental White Storks. In the near future, the Oriental White Stork will become a frequent visitor to our place, and its population will continue to grow.

More than one hundred eastern white stork nests have been built in 11 management stations. At present, about 7 to 8 eastern white stork nests are attracted in this way, and the number will gradually increase in the future, with an increase of about 10% every year.
