A new case of a mutilated horse has been identified.

This Monday, it was in Miniac-sous-Bécherel, a small town located north of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), that an animal was the victim of abuse.

Contacted, the public prosecutor Philippe Astruc confirms “serious abuse” committed on a horse which was in an enclosure.

The four other horses in the field were not affected.

According to the prosecution, the animal has a wound in the mouth, three cuts in the hindquarters and a wound in the hoof.

"This is clearly a voluntary act," says the prosecutor.

, the injuries are slight and will not require surgery.

The investigation was entrusted to the Hédé-Bazouges gendarmerie brigade.

The abuse inflicted on an animal is an offense punishable by two years' imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 euros.

About thirty injured horses

This summer, around thirty cases of mutilated horses were recorded in France, without knowing the reason for this abuse.

In Finistère, two horses were seriously injured, their legs were found tied with electric wire.

The mare even had her eye pierced by a metal hook.

The Minister of Agriculture Julien Denormandie promised "the mobilization of all the services so that justice passes" on the sidelines of a visit to an equestrian center in Saône-et-Loire.
