The drowned student was named Huang, 23 years old. Two years ago, after graduating from a junior college, he enrolled in a vocational school in Nanjing—Jiangsu New Oriental Culinary Technology School, in order to facilitate his future job hunting, and applied for the two-year classic pastry major of the school.
Huang originally graduated in July this year, but this year due to the impact of the epidemic, his graduation time has been repeatedly delayed. As of the time of the accident, he had not graduated.
Huang’s father told The Paper that recently, Xiao Huang’s mother and grandfather were sick and hospitalized. In the early morning of August 19, when he came home from the hospital, he woke up Xiao Huang in his sleep. As a day student, Xiao Huang also told his father that he was going to school during the day.
"It feels like he was going to school normally that day, and there was nothing to go out to travel or do errands." Xiao Huang's father said, "He only took a mobile phone that day, and kept his wallet, certificates and bank cards at home. If he plans to go out, He will definitely tell us. Besides, there are two relatives in the hospital at home. How could he be in the mood to hang out with his classmates?"
At 3 pm on August 19, when the police from the Wangdian Police Station in Xuyi County called, Xiao Huang's father thought it was a fraudulent call and did not answer it immediately. It was not until the police officer of the Nanjing Pukou Police Station in his jurisdiction came to his home to inform him that he realized that his son "really had an accident."
Xiao Huang's uncle, Mr. Lei, told The Paper that he had read the transcripts of the police station. At that time, only one of the five people in the group could swim. Xiao Huang was called by Teacher Ma several times before entering the water.
The incident occurred in a flood discharge ditch next to Hualong Reservoir in Tianquanhu Town, Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province. This teacher Xu is Xiao Huang's former class teacher. Teacher Xu told The Paper that he had an appointment with Teacher Ma involved in the matter to go to Xuyi on August 19, and he arrived the day before.
"Originally, Xiao Huang didn't go, because one of the students did not go, so he decided to go." Teacher Xu told The Paper that he last saw Xiao Huang half an hour before the incident.
According to Xiao Huang's family, Xiao Huang is usually shy and introverted, and he does not know how to swim. He is unlikely to take the initiative to go fishing or playing in the water with his classmates. Therefore, they are very puzzled: Why did the child go to school when he went out, but was taken to Xuyi by the school teacher? "We think the school has major management negligence."
