Lebanon suspends 3 Egyptians fleeing "gang rape" in their country

Yesterday, Lebanon arrested three Egyptians accused in the case of gang rape of a young woman in a hotel in Cairo, according to what the Lebanese Internal Security Forces announced.
This case, which took place in 2014, revealed last month in Egypt and sparked a wave of anger in the country.
The Internal Security Forces said in a statement that they had received a request from the Interpol office in Egypt to arrest "seven people of Egyptian nationality who are in Lebanon" for accusing them in this case, but it was found that only five of them "entered Lebanon on previous dates, and then two of them left to settle the number." Against three suspects inside Lebanese territory. "
The three people were arrested "in the town of Fatqa on Saturday," according to the statement.
On Thursday, the Egyptian authorities announced the arrest of a man suspected of involvement in the same case in which a group of wealthy and influential youths is facing charges of drugging and gang rape of a young woman at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel in Cairo in 2014.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution confirmed that it had taken "measures to arrest all the accused through Interpol, and investigations are being completed."
On Wednesday, the Egyptian prosecutor announced that it had ordered the arrest of nine suspects in the context of the case.
This crime was kept secret until accounts on social media began talking about it last July. Among these accounts, one on Instagram called himself "the assault police."
According to this account, which is watched by 170,000 people, six men drugged and raped a girl in the luxury hotel.
The names and photos of the alleged perpetrators, all from well-off families, were circulated on the media.
In early August, the Egyptian prosecution announced the opening of an investigation into these accusations of rape, after receiving "a letter from the National Council for Women attached to a complaint submitted by a girl to the council about some people sexually assaulting her in 2014 at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel in Cairo."
For its part, the hotel announced that it had conducted an internal investigation and confirmed that it had never been informed of this incident by any party in the hotel or the tourism police.
A study conducted by UN Women in 2013 concluded that most Egyptian women have been subjected to sexual, verbal or physical harassment.
