Bill & Ted Face the Music

Keanu Reeves saves the world again, but throws away the usual tragic-melancholy moods and returns to the image of the broken and not very bright Ted. He and his longtime friend Bill (Alex Winter) are challenged to write a song that would unite the world in love and harmony. The unlucky musicians understand that they will not be able to cope before the apocalypse begins, and decide to go to the future in order to “write off” the hit from themselves. Their grown-up daughters performed by Brigitte Lundy-Payne and Samara Weaving will help friends in the difficult task of saving the world.

The first film in the franchise about Bill and Ted, shot on a small budget, was released in 1989 and instantly won the love of critics and audiences. However, the sequel failed to repeat the success of the original tape. The development of the third part became known back in 2010, but its production began only in 2019. At the same time, Reeves openly complained about the lack of funds and time for production.

Tesla

In 2019, “War of currents” reached Russia, which had been removed from the rental two years earlier due to the scandal around Harvey Weinstein (it was his company that created the tape). In the painting with Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon, the theme of confrontation between inventors who tried to tame electricity was reflected. Young Nikola Tesla played by Nicholas Hoult also took part in this fight.

The new film about the maturity of a scientist is more fortunate. Before the coronavirus pandemic, he successfully kicked off at the Sundance Festival, where he received the Alfred Sloan Prize. Now the tape has every chance of becoming one of the brightest premieres of the cinema opening period. The first critics call the picture ambitious and risky, and also praise the leading actor Ethan Hawke.

"Magic of the Beast" (Seules les bêtes)

The intricate plot of the thriller by Dominic Moll ("Harry is a friend who wishes you well", "Lemming") is compared to the crime puzzles of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot. Some viewers note the similarity of the picture with a parable, while others liked the rather entertaining nature of the film. A separate mystery is concealed by the original title of the tape, which is translated from French as "Only animals" (or even "monsters").

The plot is built around the disappearance of a wealthy Parisian woman, Evelyn Duke. It seems that several residents of a village in the Alps, as well as a certain young hero of African appearance, are somehow involved in the case. The latter wears a goat on his shoulders like a backpack and reflects on love.

The atmosphere is additionally whipped up by threats (for example, to spoil), and behind the calm flow of life are hidden misunderstandings between close people and indifference to the problems of others.

At the Venice Film Festival, the film was nominated for the Federation of European and Mediterranean Film Critics Prize for Best Film, and also nominated for Cesar for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.

"Goalkeeper of the Galaxy"

Dzhanik Fayziev's Russian science fiction film "Goalkeeper of the Galaxy" is one of those films that should be watched in cinemas: it is better to evaluate large-scale graphics and colorful special effects on the big screen.

The film's budget was about 1 billion rubles, which is incomparable with the cost of Hollywood blockbusters, but significant for the Russian industry. Such investments allowed attracting more than 30 animators from all over the world to the project. Some of them took part in the creation of the films "Ice Age", "Aladdin" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

The cast of the film is also interesting: the main roles were performed by young artists Yevgeny Romantsov ("Youth. Adult Life") and Maria Lisovaya ("Mylodrama"). Also involved in the project are Evgeny Mironov, Elena Yakovleva, Mikhail Efremov, Dmitry Nazarov, Svetlana Ivanova, Yang Ge and other artists.

Events unfold in Moscow in 2071. The main character, an ordinary guy, suddenly has superpowers. To help his family, he agrees to compete in spaceball, an alien game that is a cross between sports and gladiatorial combat. It soon turns out that the hero is facing a more serious task than one might imagine.

"Fast and the Furious. Diablo "(Diablo)

Action "Fast and Furious. Diablo is a Polish take on the popular American franchise starring Vin Diesel. True, European filmmakers did not completely repeat the Hollywood story: they added many new details to the plot and, with their help, expanded the target audience. So, in the new tape, special attention is paid to the love line. In addition, now the main character is getting involved in a dangerous secret race to earn money for the treatment of a seriously ill sister.

According to the creators of the tape, thoughtful technical solutions, a spectacular show and an emotionally intriguing plot together can captivate a wide audience.

Tomáš Vlosok played the main role in the film. He also starred in the film "The Body of Christ" by Jan Komasa, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2020.

"Room" (Room)

The heroine of Leonard Abrahamson's thriller "The Room" was kidnapped and locked in a small room where she has been living for many years. Moreover: in these terrible conditions, the captive is forced to raise a five-year-old son. One day the woman decides to escape.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue, inspired by the real story of the Austrian Josef Fritzl, who kept his own daughter locked up. The world premiere of the film adaptation took place back in 2015, but this is the first time the film is being released in Russia.

"The Room" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture for Direction, Adapted Screenplay and Actress (Brie Larson). The tape won in the last nomination. The film has also received more than 20 other awards and nominations. Among them are the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Saturn.

"Do not enter" (The Owners)

The plot of the British film "Don't Enter" strongly resembles the story described in the film of Uruguayan Federico Alvarez "Don't Breathe" in 2016. But, as the portal Screen Rant notes, "Don't Breathe" is rather a tense thriller, while "Don't Enter" is closer to the horror genre.

According to the plot, a group of young people with the aim of robbery enters the house of a rich elderly couple. This place immediately seems suspicious to them, but the heroes ignore all the signs and find a safe closed with a combination lock. They decide to wait for the owners and get the code out of them. However, old people turn out to be by no means weak and defenseless.

Don't Come In is the first feature-length feature film by French director Julius Berg. He has previously worked on the TV series Falco, Mata Hari and Crimson Rivers. Berg also made his debut as a screenwriter. The main roles in the film went to the star of "Game of Thrones" Maisie Williams and Jake Curren. The mysterious owners of the house were played by the famous British actors Rita Tushingham ("Taste of Honey") and Sylvester McCoy ("The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey").

Force of Nature

At the dawn of his career, Mel Gibson often played the "good cops". It was these roles that brought him fame, and at the same time formed a certain role, from which, however, the artist was able to get rid of over time.

Now Gibson returns to the screens in a familiar way. True, his hero grew old, retired, and over the years acquired a bad character.

A man refuses to leave Puerto Rico during a severe hurricane. While he is arguing with the police evacuating the building, robbers enter the house. The hero of Gibson will be happy to remember his youth and stop the elusive gang, and at the same time teach a couple of lessons to his young colleagues.

The world premiere of the crime action movie "The Power of the Elements" took place on June 30 online. The first Russian viewers greeted the film quite warmly. They praised the quality stunt work, dynamic action scenes, interesting story, and Gibson's charisma.
