This typhoon went further west than expected and went north. So, the damage was less than we were worried about, but typhoon No. 9 could come next week. The tropical low pressure zone is currently developing in the Philippine Sea, so it is still a little too early to tell the expected route, but the European forecast program predicts that this will come into the interior of the Korean Peninsula in the middle of next week.

This is the movement of Typhoon Barbie as seen from the satellite.

It draws a gentle curve around Jeju Island and heads north to the Korean Peninsula.

The strength of typhoons increases as the central air pressure decreases, but Barbie developed near Jeju Island with the lowest central air pressure of 945 hPa among the all-time typhoons in Korea.

When passing through Sinan and Gageo Island in Jeollanam-do, and Taean in Chungnam Province, there was a strong wind that exceeded 45m per second.

However, the damage was small.

Originally, it was expected to go straight north along the 125-degree longitude line, but the actual travel route was skewed about 50 km west, leading away from the Korean Peninsula.

The high pressure in the East Sea kept its position stronger than expected, pushing the typhoon to the west.

The reason for reducing the damage was that Bobby, who was a slow typhoon, was faster than expected due to the influence of the western wind.

Barbie passed without major damage, but a new typhoon could come next week.

At around 3 pm today (27th), a tropical low pressure zone, the pre-typhoon stage, was formed in the eastern coast of the Philippines.

Forecasting programs in the United States and Europe predicted that the tropical low pressure zone would develop into typhoon Mysack No. 9 and penetrate South Korea's Yeongnam region next Wednesday through Thursday.

Maisak is the name of the tree from Cambodia.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center in the United States also predicted the occurrence of Mysak within 24 hours, and a more detailed movement route is expected to be predicted by tomorrow.
