A man was shot dead and another seriously injured, Tuesday evening in Dijon, in an apparent settling of scores, we learned this Wednesday from corroborating sources. Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a car traveling in a non-sensitive area in the east of Dijon was targeted by "several projectiles" of a firearm fired from another automobile, a police source said.

The 34-year-old driver managed to escape in the vehicle and make his way to a nearby hospital, but suffered six bullet holes and died of his injuries. The passenger, 22, was seriously injured but without his vital prognosis being engaged, said the prosecution.

Victims known to the police

The victims are known to the police services but for facts of little seriousness, the same source added, indicating that the investigation favored the hypothesis of a settling of scores. The perpetrator (s) are still at large.

There is no indication that this event can be linked to the clashes that opposed members of the Maghreb and Chechen communities in June in Dijon. The latter had wanted to avenge the assault on one of their own.
