In Sweden, cinemas secretly opened around midsummer and films such as Bert's diary and the American medium-budget film Unhinged have premiered during the summer.

However, there are many indications that the cinema will no longer be self-evident as the first viewing window. During the pandemic, several films have had their digital premiere instead and cinema chains and film companies have entered into new agreements that can change the cinema's position in the film market.

High expectations for Tenet

Many in the industry are hoping that Christopher Nolan's big movie Tenet will save the film year for a crisis-ridden cinema industry. Due to the pandemic, Tenet will now premiere in Europe before it hits cinemas in the USA. The American premiere is set for the third of September.
