Since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, social order has gradually recovered, and university campuses that are in the "eye of the storm" in the "regulations" have gradually become quiet. However, the student unions of some Hong Kong universities have bucked the trend, still inciting extreme emotions and spreading the idea of "Hong Kong independence", which is really regrettable and disappointing.

Recently, the Student Union of the University of Hong Kong paid a lot of money to publish a front-page advertisement in the "Apple Daily" to discredit Hong Kong's national security law and call for life to return the so-called "freedom." The Student Union of the Chinese University of Hong Kong issued the so-called "new family letter", which distorted the "humanistic spirit" of CUHK and incited students to participate in gangster violence and continue to speculate. Relevant remarks caused social dissatisfaction, and university alumni also posted criticisms. In particular, the behavior of the Hong Kong University Student Union has not been publicly consulted and is a black-box operation. After the advertisement was published, it caused infighting. Two members of the council expressed their dissatisfaction and immediately announced their resignation. The Hong Kong University Student Association thought it was directing a "good show", but it turned out to be a ridiculous farce.

These student unions can not only represent their respective members, nor can they represent the students of the two schools, nor can they represent the young people of Hong Kong. The primary purpose of the Student Union is to better serve students. However, in recent years, especially during the "regulations", some college students have been manipulated, turning the campus into a "battlefield," and even personally attacking teachers and students with different views. A group of members of the "Rong Xige" currently in charge of the Hong Kong University Student Union clearly advocated that "Hong Kong independence is the most ideal way out for Hong Kong people" and carried out activities accordingly. This has not only deviated from the original intention of the Student Union, but also contradicted the Hong Kong National Security Law, which should arouse a high degree of vigilance.

Having experienced the superimposed effects of the "regulations" and the epidemic, young people in Hong Kong need a peaceful "desk" too much. In the "Global Ranking of Universities by Subjects and Institutions" announced in March this year, 21 of the 39 courses listed on the University of Hong Kong fell in rankings, and 12 of the 37 listed subjects of CUHK fell. The organizer bluntly stated that Hong Kong's higher education has fallen into "development stagnation", which is regrettable for such a regression. Under such circumstances, if universities continue to allow a small number of extremists to politicize university campuses and wantonly pollute the academic atmosphere, it will definitely cause great harm to Hong Kong's higher education.

All these have also enabled the majority of Hong Kong college students to gradually recognize the true face of some people. The actions of a small number of extremists are entirely out of the "design" of their personal careers. With the reputation they have gained in the student union, they will open up a world in the opposition camp in the future. Personal self-interest is satisfied, but what about those classmates who are bewitched and incited? Does participating in unnecessary extreme political activities help personal growth? Can you help Hong Kong make progress by shouting a few words of port number? Only by jumping out of the mire and returning to rationality can we see these problems clearly.

The University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong both had a deep patriotic tradition. How many people with lofty ideals grew up in them, and made outstanding contributions to the motherland and Hong Kong after graduation. Nowadays, some people who manipulate the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University Student Union have openly betrayed this tradition and tarnished the reputation of the forefathers. All citizens who care about Hong Kong's education and young people in Hong Kong should jointly resist the despicable act of politicizing the campus. Just as Mr. Feng Weiguang, who was the president of the Hong Kong University Students’ Union in 1984, said in a letter, “I am full of affection for Hong Kong, and we should have a clear understanding of the situation in Hong Kong. Roads, evil roads and dead ends."
