Jump into the "nongmen"

From 2012 to 2019, 10 students from Zhengyuan School in Leiyang, Hunan were admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University, of which 7 were children from left-behind families. This year's college entrance examination, the school has two more students admitted to Peking University, Zhong Fangrong is one of them.

She is one of the most watched college entrance examination candidates this summer. She became the fourth place in the liberal arts in Hunan Province with a score of 676. When she found out her test scores, the school teacher jumped up in the office. The principal Luo Xiangyun took more than 50 teachers, took 9 cars, carried fireworks and firecrackers, and went to her. Announcement in the village.

Zhong Fangrong chose to study archaeology at Peking University, which caused a wave of waves on the Internet. Some people say that “children from poor families shouldn’t learn to be poets” and suggested that she “choose a profession with money” to improve the family’s conditions; others say “interest is the most important” and “things of interest can still be successful if it is done to the extreme”. There was also the archaeological circle. On the afternoon of August 20, she received gifts from 9 archaeological units, 9 packages, weighing nearly 50 kilograms.

Elder brother and sister who have been following her all the time. Many students said that they saw themselves in Zhong Fangrong. They were also from ordinary backgrounds. They also chose university majors based on their interests. Almost all of them had left-behind experience and were also focused by the media. They decided to say something to this school girl.

On the afternoon of August 3, Pan Jun, the school's first graduate who was admitted to Peking University, went to Zhong Fangrong's home and gave her many suggestions. His younger brother, Tan Weining, is also paying attention to Zhong Fangrong’s application for the exam. On his personal public account, Tan Weining wrote about his confusion and growth after entering the university, hoping that people will pay more attention to the future growth of left-behind children and that “low-school students will enter higher education institutions”. It's already difficult, but all this is just the beginning."

1

The discussion in Pan Jun’s alumni group was very lively.

Pan Jun didn't interrupt. This incident had little to do with him. In early August, when the principal said that Zhong Fangrong was under pressure from media interviews, Pan Jun decided to take the opportunity of the school to send her books to her house. He was a selected student in Leiyang, and the day he went to Zhong Fangrong's house was Monday, and he specifically asked for leave from his work unit.

Pan Jun said that he "sees his own shadow" in Zhong Fangrong. He was surrounded by the spotlight. In 2012, dozens of city leaders and school teachers drove to his village to celebrate his title on the gold list. A rectangular medal draped with a big red flower is still hanging in the living room of the family, and the family gathered more than 20 tables of food at the entrance banquet.

At that time, his score was only enough to report to the Peking University Medical Department and chose to major in medicinal chemistry. In the face of the media, the 18-year-old publicly determined to engage in scientific research, saying that "other scenery" was not attractive to him. His idol was Qian Xuesen.

At that time, Pan Jun felt that he was getting closer and closer to his ideals. In science subjects, he is the best in chemistry. When he was in the second grade, he determined to be a chemist.

This choice was opposed by the family. The family felt that "there is no future in studying mathematics, physics and chemistry," and they advised him to study clinical medicine or apply for a more lucrative major at other universities. Pan Jun said that he handled it in a rude manner and hid when he heard opposition.

This summer, Zhong Fangrong also wrapped herself up. She had not communicated with her parents about her application for the exam. Four TV stations came to interview her home. She stayed behind closed doors. Finally, she went to Shenzhen and the principal couldn't find her anymore.

Pan Jun understood Zhong Fangrong and didn't want others to interfere with his choice. But 6 years later, he graduated from postgraduate, did not engage in scientific research, and became a selective student. Now, looking back at his ambition during the college entrance examination, his views have changed.

He re-examined himself who wanted to study chemistry at the time. “A student who just graduated from high school understands various majors?” Pan Jun later felt that the interests of rural children were only choices based on limited experience. They only had to learn from childhood. He is a science student and can only find interest in science subjects.

After graduating from university, some of his classmates were photographers and poets. He found that those roads were too far away from him. “When he became a left-behind child, he broke off because you didn’t cultivate these cells.”

Interests and ideals will be poured cold water on reality. During the graduate school, he was the most diligent student of the supervisor: soaked in the laboratory every day, spent only 10 minutes in the two-hour lunch break, and published papers in international journals with an impact factor of 19 as the first author. But continue to do research, Pan Jun began to worry that there is no future in studying chemistry-it is difficult to find a teaching position after going abroad for seven or eight years for further study. "It is impossible to enter 211 or 985 universities."

His younger brother Liu Yong was also troubled by this problem. Liu Yong applied for the physics major of Peking University in 2016. At that time, he also felt that his interest was the most important, but he found that "some economic foundation is still needed" after studying at university. If he does research, it may last a lifetime. Can't afford a house in Beijing. "Those who don't have capital should choose popular majors because they need to accumulate economic conditions." He swayed between ideal and reality, hesitating whether to continue to engage in scientific research.

He admitted that choosing a physics major is "without a particularly deep understanding of economic pressure." Liu Yong feels that rural children may lack knowledge and broad interests, so they choose unpopular majors. "You have never been exposed to computers or finance in high school, so why are you interested?"

But in the face of Zhong Fangrong, who is devoted to archaeology, Pan Jun did not persuade her to change her profession. In Pan Jun's view, it is also risky to persuade a rural child who has never been in the computer and financial fields to study a popular major. Business needs contacts, and rural children without family support will find it difficult.

Liu Fanli also agreed with his views. Fanli Liu was the No. 1 Scholar in Science in Hunan Province in 2013. The teacher of Tsinghua University held the hand of the principal Luo Xiangyun and congratulated his school for the No. 1 prize in the province. Liu Fanli finally enrolled in the Qian Xuesen Mechanics Class of Tsinghua University. At that time, finance was already a popular major, and some people advised Liu Fanli to apply for the exam, but Liu Fanli was very sober and needed to be "talking and laughing" in finance. He was introverted, not sociable, and unwilling to eat It's better to sit on a cold bench to push the cup up and change it.

Before going to Zhong Fangrong's house, Pan Jun carefully considered what suggestions he made. Hearing that Zhong Fangrong is interested in history, he suggested that Zhong Fangrong University take a double degree in history, saying that it is very helpful to engage in the archaeology industry, and more importantly, it can be used as a way out. "Even if you may want to change careers in the future, there is no time.

2

Zhong Fangrong sat quietly on the opposite side and listened to Pan Jun for half an hour, rarely interrupting. In those few days, phone calls from the media for interviews came one after another, and she simply switched on the mobile phone flight mode.

Pan Jun could feel her pressure and asked if he was worried that his parents would not understand the major he applied for, Zhong Fangrong nodded. He suggested that Zhong Fangrong "get down and talk with my parents" and tell his parents that the archaeology profession is not as hopeless as netizens said, and relieve their worries.

Zhong Fangrong was much more stable than he thought. He asked Zhong Fangrong to exercise his expressive skills, learn to deal with people, "don't just recognize books and not recognize people."

Pan Jun realized this only after entering the university. He found that he would be timid and shy in activities on big occasions.

When he was in high school, Liu Fanli was an active person who took the initiative to answer questions, but in college, he also obviously felt that he was not confident and proactive, and his voice would tremble with nervousness during class presentations.

In the past, he knew that his expression and social skills were average, but he didn't think it was very important. After college, he found that this "core competence" is needed everywhere. To do research projects, you need to write application materials, show on stage, and convince others through expressions. Good popularity can also bring convenience, especially as a postdoc, it is easy to run into a wall directly to find a job, and it will be much better to have acquaintances recommended.

When a foreign teacher came to visit, some senior fellows took the initiative to ask the instructor to come and receive it. Liu Fanli found that he did not have such a sense of communication, "I never thought of doing this."

In the first two years of college, Tan Weining also struggled with communication. He just bought a mobile phone after graduating from high school. He didn't know anything about his classmates talking about celebrities and hot news. At the freshman meeting and exchange meeting, the classmates and the seniors were talking, but he was silent.

Tan Weining later realized that he had grown up in an environment of lack of expression. Before junior high school, he had been dealing with farming. After school in the afternoon, he would go to the village to harvest rape and peanuts. He lives with his grandmother, his parents work in Guangzhou, and only come back once a year during the Chinese New Year.

When he was young, he would hide in fear when he saw his parents. He was too embarrassed to talk to his parents about something he wanted to buy. Finally, he mustered up the courage to say he wanted to eat snacks. The answer was "It’s not good for your health, and it’s a waste of money", "After a few more times, you don’t mention it anymore. Up".

In his personal public account, he recorded his “sad past events” that he had no money: go to a clothing store to try on clothes and check the price; take a taxi to steal the meter from time to time; buy food after the aunt, and wait for the aunt to choose the food. Good price, I will pay a pound for it. The pen name "Jinshan" is also out of compensation for childhood-I wanted to buy nice clothes when I was young, but I didn't have the money to buy it. He wears his cousin's old clothes, some of which are patched.

Tan Weining said with emotion that many urban students are green light thinking about problems. They care more about the gains and value they bring to themselves when they do one thing. I think the problem is red light thinking, not thinking about what value it will bring, but thinking about what difficulties will be encountered, calculating the cost of trial and error, and "fear of trying new things."

Huang Lanyi is also aware of the potential impact of staying behind on her personality. In the fifth and sixth grades, his parents went out to work. He lived with his grandmother, but the grandmother always sat in the room with her back hunched, not talking or smiling, which made him feel depressed.

He was originally outgoing, and gradually he didn't like to talk. He often stayed at home after school, watching TV alone or in a daze. When he wanted to talk, he wrote a diary, "it's easy to be sad". When he was in junior high school, his mother died of cancer, and his family was even more vulnerable. He became more introverted and low self-esteem.

This character accompanied him into college. He studied fine arts at Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts. When he first entered university, he found that he had no sense of humor and couldn't make jokes. When he was with his classmates, he was nervous and overwhelmed when there were no topics to talk about.

In high school, seven or eight students live in a room. The principal Luo Xiangyun often goes to the boys’ dormitory. He found that many rural children wear trousers when they sleep in summer, and they are more shy than urban children.

There are nearly 15,000 students in Zhengyuan School, more than 80% are from rural areas, and nearly half of them are left-behind children. On campus, students don’t have to wear school uniforms, and girls don’t have to cut short hair. Luo Xiangyun hopes that the campus looks "colorful."

But when eating in the cafeteria, he let all the students eat "big pot rice." Students pay 25 yuan a day for living expenses, four meals a day in the cafeteria, and unlimited supply of fruits or bread at night. Knowing that the economic conditions of rural children's homes are average, he hopes that rural children and urban children can sit in the same row and eat meat.

3

In his freshman year, Pan Jun's grades were still outstanding, and he often got full marks in math and physics. He felt that the students around him were not as good as himself. At that time, he was very high-profile, and the dormitory was displayed in the college. In a large classroom with three to four hundred people, others spoke in Chinese. He used English, and he got the lowest score. Later, Pan Jun realized that his behavior was intended to highlight himself because he was "unconvinced".

The unconventional character has offended many people. He attributed his youthful arrogance to ignorance, "Thinking that he was great, but later found out that he was not."

A Zhengyuan graduate who studied medicine at Peking University said with emotion that when she was still learning what the format of a thesis was, her classmates had finished writing. The teacher asked them to practice GRE writing questions in English class, and it would take a long time for her to understand the questions. She found that her classmates in Beijing always "naturally become leaders" in various activities, paying attention to geography competitions she has never heard of, and a group of "international friends".

It turns out that not everyone in high schools is doing questions. The roommate told Tan Weining that some of the high school classmates went abroad, and some were recommended to Tsinghua University. They were admitted to the Central University of Finance and Economics because they were not smart. But roommate level 7 electronic piano, League of Legends Master Rank... "I can't learn, nor can I play." Tan Weining sighed.

There are 30 students in Liu Fanli's class at Tsinghua University, 17 of whom are recommended. He was stunned when he heard that the students in the High School Attached to the National People's University had five days of classes a week, and that they were not studying at night. I have 8 classes every day in my high school. In the evening, I study at 10 o'clock in the evening. Many people still take the initiative to stay and study, and they are only willing to take a break in the early morning.

When he was on the campus of Tsinghua University, Huang Lanyi realized that he was lucky—the children in the countryside of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts are too rare, and classmates are from rich family backgrounds. They learned art from an early age, and some of them could study Tsinghua with cultural points. interest.

He was a monk half-way, and only changed to art in the second semester of high school. Before that, he had never studied art professionally. His interest in painting comes from his father asking him to draw according to the calendar when he was young. Start with painting the tiger on it, and then imitate a picture book my father bought to draw people, fruits and landscapes. He listened to Jiang Xun's talk about the history of Chinese and Western art, and also read "The Biography of Van Gogh", and was inspired by this down-to-earth artist who still loves life.

When he was in his third year of high school, he talked to his classmates about the career he wanted to pursue in the future. His first reaction was that he wanted to be a painter. When he told his father that he was going to transfer to art, his father thought he was crazy.

He wrote to his father, "Why can others choose what they like, but I can't?" Almost all relatives objected. My sister showed his painting to a friend who opened a studio. The other party said that there is a big gap between the professional level. Persuade him to give up.

One time, he took the test and said, "Emotions are coming." He asked his teacher for leave and went home, and discussed with his father about studying art.

He hides in the room, stunned, the father and son separated by a door and haven't spoken for a long time. When he opened the door, thinking that his father was going to scold him, his father only said, "You go to study, I will find a way."

He admitted that this became the motivation for his later examination of the United States. The better his father treats him, the more he wants to repay him, “I can’t wait to be admitted right away. It feels like that.” The training school ends at 10 pm, and he will paint in the studio until two or three in the morning. Point, in 2018, he missed the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University by two points, rested at home for six or seven days, and went to an art training institution in Beijing to repeat his studies.

He was impressed by the luxury of children in rural areas to learn art. When he went to a training institution to study, he told his teacher that he liked Van Gogh, and the teacher advised him to use Picasso as an idol, because Picasso was "very good at managing and living", able to create and also to do business. When his classmates were studying from all over the country, he was still working part-time in training institutions to earn living expenses.

Many of his classmates traveled with their parents since they were young, looked at the buildings in big cities, and also made a design plan. The classmates in the city have more ideas and bolder designs.

When doing scientific research, Liu Fanli also felt very deeply about this. He found that the gap of vision was directly reflected in thinking and cognition. When discussing the same course topic, students in big cities think more comprehensively, in-depth, and faster. What makes him more anxious is that not only do they start from a high level, they also work harder than themselves.

Before going to Tsinghua University, Liu Fanli’s self-planning only included the college entrance examination, but he found that the self-planning of other students in the university class was very clear. Some students took the GRE as a freshman to prepare for going abroad, and others wrote recommendations for the sophomore year. Letter, find a graduate tutor. He didn't think about the way forward until his senior year.

4

Tan Weining never thought about this question: how to go after the college entrance examination.

His elder brother was the enlightenment of his studies. When he was young, the brothers slept on a small wooden bed. When they were bored, they went to the neighbor’s house to watch black-and-white TV and play poker. His elder brother fanned him out in the summer and taught him how to read and count. Being able to enter the first grade at the age of 5, in his memory, his sensible brother is often praised, which is the hope of the family.

But when he was 7 years old, his brother drowned and died. For a long time, everyone in the family mentioned his elder brother in a tone of regret. This makes him feel complicated-he worships and awes his brother, and is not willing to lag behind him.

In the fifth grade, my brother said he would go to Beijing to study at university, and he also determined to go to Beijing to study. Tan Weining later realized that his brother's sudden departure had become the motivation for his study. "It can be understood as anger, or inheritance. What he did not do, I must do it for him."

Fearing to affect Tan Weining's studies, his family concealed the news of the death of his grandmother, grandma, and grandpa from him. Grandfather Tan Weining passed away 5 days before the college entrance examination. On the sick bed, Grandpa kept calling him "Wei Tsai" and wondered whether he was admitted to university. The 1,000 yuan he saved was still under the pillow and used as a red envelope for his entrance to university. .

At that time, he didn't understand why he didn't notify him of the death of his relatives. Later, he realized that he was the hope of the whole family and nothing was more important than going to college. When he was in high school, the grandmother who had been with him said that he did not work hard when he was in junior high school. "Now it is no better than junior high school." He didn't care too much. After the death of his grandmother, this sentence remained in his mind. Tan Weining said that after that, she started to work hard to fulfill her grandmother's wish that she would pass the university entrance exam.

However, Tan Weining discovered that the motivation disappeared after entering the university.

He followed the advice of his classmate’s father to apply for the most popular accounting major, and was transferred to a computer major, but after four years of studying, he felt that the computer was "cold and not warm."

In the university, he could not find a direction for a while. He remembered that the school held a debate contest and the two sides discussed whether educational resources should be tilted towards the big cities. A city student thought that the tilt was understandable. "Why can you catch up with the hard work of 20 years of hard work?" Tan Weining felt that "working hard is meaningless."

At first, he tried hard to "rush", urged each other to participate in club activities, campaigned for class leaders, tried to integrate into the university circle, and had beautiful resume points for the future, but found it difficult to get a sense of value from it.

The sense of loss lasted for a long time. When graduating from university, someone suggested that he take the postgraduate entrance examination, study law and finance, and "take the mainstream route", but at that time he didn't know what he liked, so he "want to go to society". After graduation, his family hoped that he could apply for a civil servant in Shenzhen. While he was working part-time in a hotel while taking the exam, he failed in the interview. Then he invested his resume and worked for a new energy company. But Tan Weining could not "find the value of his own existence" in this job. In the end, he resigned to travel.

Later, Tan Weining realized the limitations of his growth: poor environment and family changes inspired him to leave the bottom and enter the ivory tower, but no one told him how he should go in the future.

The news of Zhong Fangrong’s application for archaeology was hotly discussed. In his own experience, Tan Weining wrote in the public account, “Compared with the media’s promotion of the little girl, her future growth is more worthy of everyone’s concern and needs correct guidance. And timely help."

In Tan Weining's eyes, this is a problem faced by many rural children after entering university.

5

After the students entered the university, the head of the middle school Luo Xiangyun also received such feedback. He admitted that the gap exists objectively, "family conditions are good, and the way to go is farther."

The school organizes more than one hundred students with the top scores to participate in the "Beijing Inspirational Tour" every year. He found that some students have never taken a train or traveled to Leiyang City. The most experienced students are the cities where their parents work during the summer vacation. . He suggested that Zhong Fangrong go to Peking University 10 days in advance and take his grandparents to take the high-speed train once, and he will pay for it.

It is not easy to train a high-achieving student. Luo Xiangyun has always encouraged students to pursue their favorite majors and not to give up for money. After knowing that Liu Fanli would go abroad to study for a Ph.D., he asked Liu Fanli to concentrate on his research, and asked him if he was short of money. His alma mater is his backing. For students who are admitted to prestigious universities every year, the school will issue a tablet computer and rewards ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 yuan to reduce the burden on students to go to college, "don't spend so much effort to make money."

Luo Xiangyun found that although college life has allowed Zhengyuan's graduates to see the gap, most of them are much more cheerful after college. After going to university, Huang Lanyi talked a lot, and as the team leader, he led 9 team members to study the inheritance of shadow puppetry and won the first prize of university summer social practice.

The university allowed Huang Lanyi to see the bigger world. He worked desperately to absorb nutrition at the university, participated in the college reading club, and discussed with a group of masters and doctoral seniors until 3 in the morning, and his classmates began to go to various cities to see the collection. He intends to end his part-time job, learn software at home, reserve for the future, and do "creative things."

"Although it was more obvious than others at the beginning, through continuous learning and gradually graduated, the pattern will be larger." Pan Jun also began to focus on self-growth.

He is groping to find a way that suits him. After graduating, he was selected as a student in his hometown. Later, he found out that he had chosen the right route. His academic qualifications gave him a big bonus for grassroots jobs. He heard that he was from Peking University and his colleagues "will take a high look."

Pan Jun said that he was not brave enough for not insisting on doing scientific research, but his original intention has not changed, "I want to benefit many people." In high school, he adopted the motto of "Poor and good one's life alone, and benefit the world". After graduation, He is determined to be in politics to enable him to realize the value of life.

He found that the native environment of the left-behind students cultivated his strong and resilient character. Although the starting point is lower than others, Pan Jun said that he will not concede defeat if he does not reach the end. "If you have run 99 meters in a 100-meter race, I will not concede."

Tan Weining is also looking for his position. He found that the native environment made him more tolerant and understanding of the bottom people. He has always been enthusiastic about public welfare. He went to the countryside to visit families who could not afford to study due to poverty, helped them obtain financial assistance, and also helped rural elementary schools to collect books.

Some relatives think he is a waste of time doing public welfare, so it is better to do part-time jobs to make money. But Tan Weining found a sense of value in public welfare. When he went to support the teaching, Tan Weining noticed that there was a boy in the class who always liked to contradict the teacher. He was also a left-behind child. He could understand that the boy just wanted to attract attention and "make people stay with him."

When visiting the boy's house with his companions, he found that the boy was just like himself. His parents were not at home for many years, and he was accompanied by his frail grandfather. He added the boy WeChat, and the two became good friends. The boy was later admitted to a local high school, and did not contact his parents for the first time, but told him.

"Rural children are not stupid, they just lack resources and equal care." Tan Weining said that he hopes that one day when people talk about "left-behind children", they will no longer be sympathetic and compassionate, but will truly pay attention to their growth and needs.

After resigning and traveling, he found that he liked writing most and found a job related to text and engaged in brand copywriting. He no longer doubts the value of self-effort, and writes the groping and confusion over the past few years in the official account, hoping to affect some people.

In Liu Yong’s view, the problem with rural education is the lack of social resources. “The rural areas are generally poor and the distribution of educational resources is small. Like the growth of trees, those with sufficient sunshine and nourishment grow better.”

6

Talking about Zhong Fangrong's popularity as "stay behind" and "Hope of the whole village", Tan Weining said with emotion, "Because there are too few examples of this, it seems precious." "It is not easy for us to have a college student in the countryside, let alone The so-called prestigious school student." In his memory, he was the only college student in the village that year.

They are all lucky ones in the countryside. According to a data, in 2016, rural students from Peking University accounted for 16.3% of the enrollment that year. One third of Tsinghua University freshmen come from high schools below the county level, and less than 10% come from rural areas.

Leiyang has 19 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction. Official statistics show that Leiyang is a major labor export city, with more than 300,000 employees and nearly 10,000 left-behind children.

In 2005, when Zhengyuan first established the school, there were only 1,100 students. At that time, Luo Xiangyun was most worried about enrolling students. The children in the city were not willing to board, so Luo Xiangyun had to turn his attention to the children in the village. He led the teachers to give lectures in the village primary schools one by one, attracting top-notch pupils to Zhengyuan, which inadvertently provided some left-behind children with a suitable reading opportunity.

Zhengyuan implements closed management. Students stay in boarding schools all year round. Junior high school students go home once every half a month, and high school students usually go home once a month. Students who violate school rules are punished strictly. Last year, the school seized more than 200 mobile phones. At the grade meeting, the cadres of each class were asked to smash their phones publicly. 495 cameras are distributed in all corners of the 380-acre campus to guard against safety problems of students and escape to play games.

The school also implements the "2+4" model and layered teaching. Pan Jun is the earliest experimenter of this model. In 2006, Luo Xiangyun selected 41 students from the first-year students who enrolled that year to build the H20 Tsinghua Class as an experimental class of the "2+4" model. He believes that the junior high school textbooks are simple and the high school textbooks are too many and difficult to learn. The two-year junior high school and four-year senior high school system are implemented.

Pan Jun remembers that in order to prove whether this model is feasible, the school thought of many ways. When he was in his first year of high school, the school selected 10 people to take the exam for high school students in the normal mode at that time. Pan Jun's grades could be tested for two books, and when he was in the second year of high school, he could get into the top three of his grade.

In 2012, 41 students from the H20 class took the college entrance examination, and 39 students were online. Today, 70% of junior high school students in the school implement the "2+4" model, and the remaining students continue their original learning model. Complementing the "2+4 model" is also hierarchical teaching. Pan Jun is studying science, and the whole year is divided into three levels: Tsinghua class, science and technology class, and ordinary class.

7

In many ways, Zhengyuan's teaching points to the college entrance examination.

Luo Xiangyun said, "The college entrance examination is the direction of our teaching. How to take the college entrance examination and how we teach." He found that if rural children are equipped with a suitable education model, they can be as good as urban children.

However, the Zhengyuan model also has shortcomings. At the 2020 senior year summary meeting, Luo Xiangyun reminded teachers that there are more than 2,000 students and more than 600 who have not passed the second book. Pay attention to this part of students, "Save one is one."

Luo Xiangyun is still exploring a better education model. The school purchases high-quality online courses every year for teachers to learn. The students with the highest scores are also sent to good middle schools to take exams to test the teaching effect.

Luo Xiangyun worships the "Hengshui Education Model". Although this education model is controversial, he feels that “since the country implements the college entrance examination selection system, it must deal with this system and let children get ahead.” Starting in 2019, the school began to send several senior high school students to Hengshui Middle School to study. Half a semester, a long year.

Luo Xiangyun added some "Hengshui characteristics" to the school based on students' feedback: one additional day course, self-study changed to subject self-study, and students must endorse before running exercises.

But Luo Xiangyun felt that he did not learn the essence of the "Hengshui Model". So far, it has not been possible to verify whether this model is effective for Zhengyuan students. Except for Zhong Fangrong, the college entrance examination scores of several other exchange students have worsened.

Zhong Fangrong said that going to Hengshui to study helped her a lot. There was more emphasis on textbook knowledge. The teacher told the students to remember the textbook. Before the college entrance examination, she recited the textbook 7 times. But she only went for one semester and didn't want to go. The head teacher felt that she was under a lot of pressure.

In recent years, Luo Xiangyun has begun to explore the reform of the primary school system, that is, the "5+3+4" model of five years in primary school, three years in junior high school, and four years in high school.

However, there will always be students who do not apply any of these models, and there will always be students who fail to enter the university. Luo Xiangyun's method is to let students with poor grades learn art as soon as possible. In 2007, four repeat students were admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Luo Xiangyun discovered that if there is money and opportunity, rural children can also learn art.

Last year, the school set up 11 art classes in middle and high schools. Luo Xiangyun will subsidize art students who are talented and have no money to study. Huang Lanyi transferred to art with the help of the principal and was admitted to the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts.

Not long ago, Luo Xiangyun met with a leader of Hengyang City. The other party hoped that he would establish branch schools in various counties and cities in Hengyang City, paying attention to left-behind children and poor families, and exploring replicable models.

He didn't worry about Zhong Fangrong's archeology major. On the contrary, he felt that this major was set up for Zhong Fangrong, which was in line with her introverted personality. He has seen many children go through such a process and go through transformation in college.

He believed that Zhong Fangrong, who returned from Peking University for the summer vacation next year, must have changed.
