International Conference on New Corona and Global Warming Countermeasures September Online to be held on August 25 at 13:38

An international ministerial conference to discuss global warming countermeasures based on the spread of new coronavirus infection will be held online next month with more than 60 countries and regions participating.

With the spread of the new coronavirus, the UN conference "COP26", which discusses measures against global warming scheduled for November, has been postponed for one year and there is concern that the measures will be delayed.

Against this backdrop, the Japanese government proposed to hold a ministerial-level international conference online to discuss how to balance economic recovery and global warming countermeasures that were hit by the spread of infection, and to hold it on the 3rd of next month. Will be done.

So far, more than 60 countries and regions have decided to participate.

At the conference, there will be a panel discussion with representatives of industry and university students, and finally a statement on future global warming countermeasures will be compiled.

Environment Minister Koizumi, who chairs the meeting, said in a press conference, "The spread of the infection has changed the situation in each country, but it should not be so important that climate change countermeasures are not emphasized. We would like to share such efforts and knowledge and increase momentum so that countermeasures do not fall behind."
