On the 23rd, a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the new school building, which was attended by the sixth graders of Onagawa Elementary School, the third graders of Onagawa Junior High School, and people from Qatar in the Middle East who supported the project costs.

At the ceremony, Hinako Endo, a sixth grader in elementary school, said, "I don't have much memory at the time of the earthquake, but we, who grew up with the reconstruction, want to learn with the same big dreams as this school building."

The new school building, built in the center of the town, is a four-storey reinforced concrete building that accommodates approximately 300 elementary and junior high school students.

Onagawa elementary school and junior high school will hold school festivals and other school events together, and junior high school teachers will take charge of elementary school English and music classes.
