The Red Hot Chili Peppers group announced the death of guitarist Jack Sherman on Saturday. The latter had played in the first album of the group and contributed to the second.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' debut album guitarist Jack Sherman is dead, the American rock band has announced. He was 64 years old. "We wish Jack Sherman a safe journey into the afterlife, because he has passed away," the group tweeted overnight from Friday to Saturday. “Jack performed on our debut album as well as our first tour of the United States,” added the musicians, paying tribute to this “one guy”.

"The good, the bad and the rest"

"We thank him for everything, the good, the bad and the rest." The group led by Anthony Kiedis did not specify the causes of the death of its ex-guitarist. Jack Sherman had replaced guitarist Hillel Slovak for the group's first album (1984), "The Red Hot Chili Peppers", and collaborated on the second, "Freaky Styley" (1985), according to the Deadline news site. But Slovak then resumed his place within the group.

When members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, Sherman, despite his collaborations, was not included. He told Billboard at the time that he felt "dishonored."
