The mask is spreading in more and more large cities, already mandatory everywhere in Toulouse and from Saturday in the busiest areas of Lyon. The capital of Gaul thus applies the same principle as in Paris but with one notable difference: cyclists must also be equipped. Reportage.

REPORTAGE

Isabelle sets foot on the ground. She buckles up her bike, and puts on her mask only now. From tomorrow, it will have to be put on before ... which surprises him a lot. After Toulouse, it is indeed in Lyon that the obligation to wear a mask in certain streets begins this Saturday. A map has been published on the prefecture's website, a bit like Paris, with areas to find your way around. But unlike the capital, cyclists are also concerned.

"I do not see the interest"

"I didn't think about it, no", confides Isabelle at the microphone of Europe 1. "It remains uncomfortable, especially in summer with the heat ... By bike, I don't really see the point of having to wear it , except to navigate in the streets, between people, with the history of the droplets in suspension ... perhaps, I do not know anything about it, wonders again the Lyonnaise.

Clarisse, who overhears the conversation, wants to give her opinion. She is arch-counter, "since we are at least 1 meter from the others. I really don't see the point. We're going to graft it, we're going to live with a mask! I don't know how we're going to put up with that. .. ", she indignantly.

"It has to become a habit"

But most cyclists are less reassembled and understand that riding on two wheels does not offer a privilege. "It's a bit of a nuisance, but it's nothing at all compared to those who are sick. We don't have to rebel all the time against everything, we have to be reasonable," says a resident. Another prefers to apply "the precautionary principle" rather than "take the risk. So if it is mandatory, I will put it," he said. "It has to become a habit, it's not actually an effort."
