"Reham" ... an angry cry sweeping through Twitter

The Arab tweeters on the social networking site "Twitter" continued to circulate the name of the young Iraqi activist, Reham Yaqoub, who was assassinated the day before yesterday in the city of Basra, expressing their outrage in several ways and languages.

And after the news of her assassination was broadcast, the hashtag (# Reham_ Yaqoub_Shahid Al-Watan) spread among the tweeters, conveying their deep sadness and discontent due to the targeting of Iraqi activists, the last of whom was "Reham".

The tweeters denounced "the criminal acts that are continuing" in Iraq, describing them as "the courage of Basra, and the icon of the protests."

The tweets of the "Twitter" pioneers were accompanied by a post from the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, saying that his dismissal of the Basra police chief came in response to previous assassinations, stressing his refusal to "collude with the killers."

Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car with 4 women inside, killing Reham Yaqoub and another girl, and wounding two.

Yaqoub was known as one of the most prominent activists in Basra Governorate, as she participated in all the Iraqi protests that the city witnessed, and led feminist activities in the city such as sports and social work.
