Aichi Prefecture, the largest drive-through PCR laboratory in the prefecture was established at 22:10 on August 20.

Aichi Prefecture has opened the largest “PCR testing station” in Higashiura Town, which collects specimens for new coronavirus testing by the drive-through method.

The laboratory will be opened in Aichi Prefecture on the afternoon of the 20th using a parking lot of a facility in the prefecture where there are medical treatment facilities for people with mild illness, etc. Published

The inspection at this place is supposed to be done by a drive-through method while still in the car, and a person who is a patient who visits by car will collect a sample in the handed container in the car. After that, the staff who received the specimen sealed it in a bag and kept it in a cooler box.

This means that the patient himself/herself can collect the sample, and the work can proceed without the need for specialized staff, which reduces the risk of infection of the staff and increases the number of samples that can be collected.

Only doctors who have decided in advance that a PCR test is necessary and who have booked in advance are eligible for sample collection, but in this prefecture, the number of samples is limited to 90 people per day for the time being. We will collect them and hope to increase the upper limit to 500 by November this year.

The prefecture is coordinating with the city to open such an inspection center in Nagoya city.
