European funds will be paid between 2021 and 2027. About two billion euros will be paid to Reunion by Europe for economic recovery, announced Tuesday the Minister of Overseas Sébastien Lecornu during a lunch with the actors socio-economic aspects of Reunion.

The minister, traveling in the island until Thursday, indicated that Europe would pay 1.7 billion euros to which will be added "several hundred million euros" from the European recovery plan "negotiated by the President of the Republic in Brussels ".

Tourism, agriculture, housing and ecological transition

The Minister met with socio-economic players to develop the specific stimulus plan for Reunion, which will be integrated into the 100 billion national stimulus plan presented on August 25. He had indeed promised at the beginning of the summer that there would be specific stimulus plans for each overseas territory.

In particular, he outlined the main sectors of Reunion that should be concerned by this future plan: tourism, agriculture, housing and ecological transition, we learned from the ministry.

Sébastien Lecornu also specified that the New Coastal Road, a gigantic sea road project, would be part of the national recovery plan.
