"Justice" by Dick Marcel ... 74 thousand signatures of the petition
A petition launched by a French farmer demanding "justice" for Dec Marcel, who was killed by a neighbor last May, collected more than 74,000 signatures.
"We were deeply shocked by this tragedy," Sebastian Fernie, a resident of Venzio of 450 in southern France, where a man was killed with a cock-rifle after he was tired of shouting, told AFP.
The man admitted his act and he will be tried in early December.
"Rural life is increasingly threatened by unpunished behavior," Ferney said, noting that the case of a rooster on Oleron Island (west) caused a sensation.
The rooster was the subject of a legal dispute initiated by neighbors who complained about his morning shouting. However, the judiciary allowed the rooster to continue screaming. This issue prompted the National Assembly to approve a bill last January that would incorporate the concept of the "physical heritage" of the countryside into French law, which would soon be presented to the Senate.
