  • Before being appointed Keeper of the Seals, Eric Dupond-Moretti wrote the preface to a book by the president of the National Federation of Hunters to be published on Tuesday.
  • He claims to be a "passionate" hunter and attacks the "ayatollahs of ecology", a statement today criticized in view of his current post.
  • Like him, other ministers have been overtaken by their past feats of arms.

The latest example is Eric Dupond-Moretti, criticized for the preface of a book written before his appointment. Like him, Marlène Schiappa, Roselyne Bachelot or even Edouard Philippe saw their past (literary or not) resurface when they entered the government.

Eric Dupond-Moretti, against the "ayatollahs of ecology"

His words drew many comments. Eric Dupond-Moretti was still a lawyer when he wrote the preface to the book by President of the National Federation of Hunters Willy Schraen. In this book, which is due out this Tuesday, the one who is now Minister of Justice describes himself as a “passionate” hunter and criticizes certain environmentalists.

"This book, the ayatollahs of ecology will use it to light the barbecue where they will cook their soybean steaks", writes the ex-lawyer in the preface of A hunter in the countryside (ed. Paperback). He qualifies defenders of the animal cause as "enlightened" and "fundamentalists", according to extracts cited by the JDD. “They want us to be ashamed of being a hunter, (…) make us feel guilty for being what we are, because we are also our passion. And for too long we have refused to defend ourselves, no doubt convinced that intolerance and absurdity do not deserve a response, ”he wrote.

The former tenor of the bars explains that he is “not ashamed” when he “kills a partridge” and when he “delights in the flesh of the bird”. He salutes the book, a "little gem", made "for hunters to raise their heads".

To the controversy raised by his remarks when it now belongs to a government which prides itself on making ecology one of its priorities, Eric Dupond-Moretti attempted an explanation: "I have never blamed environmentalists but from the ayatollahs of ecology. The former are for me very different from the latter. Is there still room for nuance and unity in our society? It is a new notch in the com of the Keeper of the Seals, already criticized by feminist associations for his positions on the #MeToo movement. In his defense, he said he was "feminist" and "for absolute equality of the rights of men and women".

Roselyne Bachelot, queen of shopping

She has just returned to politics after several years of absence. Roselyne Bachelot was appointed Minister of Culture under Jean Castex, after having converted, for several years, as a TV and radio host. Barely a month after his appointment, his participation in the reality show "Les Reines du Shopping", on M6, sparked an uproar. This special celebrity week is scheduled to air August 24 on M6. On Twitter, the minister did not fail to respond to her detractors, recalling that the program was intended to finance an association of people with Alzheimer's disease.

This show was shot several months before the pandemic crisis and is intended to fund an association of people with Alzheimer's disease. I am proud of this associative commitment. #MusicOseniors

Marlène Schiappa, on the love of rounds

Until then unknown to the general public, Marlène Schiappa was appointed Secretary of State in charge of equality between women and men in 2017. Very quickly, her author's past resurfaced and extracts from her book Dare to love rounds (ed. La Musardine, 2010), devoted to the sexual life of curvy women, are published. On the  L'Obs site , she explains her approach in 2010: “It's an erotic-funny book on / for round trips ,” she explains. My goal in writing this book was precisely to get out of the ghetto patrols; as I do in the press agency where I work: I try to get the eye used to seeing circles, to get out of these skinny-young-blonde clones ... "

Problem: for some, the book is missing the point, as blogger Daria Marx explained to 20 Minutes in 2017: “It's a concentrate of grossophobia but also sexism. Sexism because in the end, Marlène Schiappa does not cease to define the fat woman through the prism of the pleasure she is supposed to offer men ”.

Frédéric Mitterrand, sex tourism

He was Minister of Culture under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy when the scandal happened. Frédéric Mitterrand is the author of the book The Bad Life (ed. Robert Laffont), published in 2005. In this semi-autobiographical story, François Mitterrand's nephew evokes his taste for paid relationships with “boys”. Asked about the age of these "boys", the minister assured at the time: "I was each time with people of my age or five years younger. "Frédéric Mitterrand made it clear that it was" in no way the apology for sex tourism, even if one of the chapters is the crossing of this hell ".

He also denounced "the amalgam" which would like the "boys" to be minors, assuring that he had "never harmed" anyone. "Yes, I have had relations with boys, but we must not confuse homosexuality and pedophilia", declared the Minister of Culture. Summoned to resign by several political leaders, including Marine Le Pen, Frédéric Mitterrand had refused to leave his post.

Edouard Philippe, behind the scenes of politics

Edouard Philippe is not only one of the most popular politicians among the French. He is also the author of two novels, written in collaboration with his friend Gilles Boyer. His book  In the shadow (JCLattès, 2011) raised a small controversy when he was appointed Prime Minister in 2017. “The erotic-macho thoughts of the hero of Edouard Philippe”, headlined L'Express at the time.

In this thriller, which deals with behind the scenes of political life, between low blows and loneliness, a few sentences have emerged, as when the narrator describes the rival of his candidate: "She had within her that imperceptible dryness of women who would never be. mothers, which certainly made it a formidable policy: a man's heart in a woman's body. "Another analysis, a little less political:" A real chest is round, it's comfortable (...), you should be able to put your nose in the middle with jubilation. "

According to Gala , Edouard Philippe is thinking of writing a new novel with his accomplice. A new book that he can feed on his recent experience ...
