China News Service, Zhangjiakou, August 16 (Xiao Guangming and Li Yang) In early autumn, the sky was high and the clouds were light in the Bashang area of Hebei, and the green hills were green. In the vegetable field at the entrance of Renhebao Village, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, etc. have matured, tractors are roaring, and vegetable farmers are working nervously.

Renhepu Village, Xiaochang Town, Guyuan County, Hebei Province was once one of the 206 deeply impoverished villages in Hebei Province. It was freezing for half of the year and living conditions were poor. The location of Wanshuiquan Village is even more remote. The vast majority of young and middle-aged people go out to work as they guard Susukada and rely on the sky to harvest.

At the end of February 2020, all 27 poverty-stricken counties around Beijing and Tianjin, including Guyuan County, were lifted out of poverty. Millions of poor people were lifted out of poverty. For the first time in history, the region around Beijing and Tianjin was free from absolute poverty. In the past three years, these two former poor villages in Bashang have changed their old appearance and undergone earth-shaking changes.

In 2017, a reporter from Chinanews.com followed the poverty alleviation work team to Renhebao Village and Wanshuiquan Village, Guyuan County, Bashang District, Hebei, and recorded the poverty status of the two villages. In that year, in order to ensure that poverty alleviation on schedule by 2020, Hebei selected more than 22,000 cadres from the provincial, municipal, and county levels to assist in the villages, and raised funds for targeted poverty alleviation.

Three years of great changes

In Renhepu Village three years ago, even the poorest families would have a few pairs of rain boots. In this regard, Liu Zengjie, First Secretary of Renhepu Village, Xiaochang Town, Guyuan County, Zhangjiakou, Bank of China Hebei Branch, has a deep understanding. “When it rains on a cloudy day, the dirt roads in the village will turn into quagmire, and the sneakers on your feet will fall into the mud. Muddy road."

Nowadays, a landmark archway has been built at the entrance of Renhepu Village. The 13 streets and more than 20,000 square meters of alleyways in the village have all hardened. 90 newly installed street lamps have put an end to the villagers' life of "no light and black". Public toilets, caring bathrooms, and 1,000 square meters of cultural square have all been put into use, and it has become a well-known model village.

At the moment, it is the peak season for vegetable production and sales, and the vegetable wholesale market in Renhepu Village is extremely lively. Businessmen from Beijing, Handan, Shanxi and other places gather in the market to collect vegetables.

Gu Liang, a vegetable vendor in Handan, Hebei, is a regular customer of the vegetable wholesale market in Renhepu Village. “The vegetables here are of good quality and variety. It is a relatively affordable vegetable wholesale market in Bashang.”

"Post-80s" Chen Shangqing planted 60 acres of vegetables this year and has now sold more than 20 acres of vegetables. According to him, the income of planting vegetables this year is expected to be around 170,000 yuan. “It used to be in the first place to wait for people to collect vegetables, and the price and freshness of vegetables were difficult to guarantee. Now there is a vegetable wholesale market in the village. So worry-free and earn money again."

Yang Xudong, secretary of the Party branch of Renhepu Village, stated that he plans to build Renhepu Village into a green, high-quality organic vegetable base, and register the Renhepu Village trademark to create a brand effect. At the same time, he and Liu Zengjie are planning to introduce a leading enterprise to extend the vegetable supply chain, dry and sell vegetables, and increase revenue.

At the entrance of Wanshuiquan Village, 115 vegetable greenhouses are illuminated by sunlight on the dam, and the beans planted in the greenhouses are growing.

According to Zuo Qingli, the first secretary of Wanshuiquan Village's work team in the village, the vegetable greenhouses are managed by one company, and the rental price of each greenhouse is 650 yuan this year. In addition to the rental fee, the villagers can also work in vegetable sheds to make money. At the same time, a 150-square-meter vegetable constant temperature room was built, and the vegetables grown by the villagers can be stored in cold storage without leaving the village.

During the visit, the reporter saw that both Renhepu Village and Wanshuiquan Village had built loving bathrooms, which were open to villagers for free. In the summer, villagers would boil a pot of hot water and take a simple bath in a large basin. Now, even in the weather of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the water temperature in the bathroom can reach above 50 degrees Celsius, solving the problem of bathing for villagers in Bashang.

Poor households in the past: some people have to help but stand on their own

It's not just the village environment that has changed. The idea of self-reliance and self-reliance also took root in Bashangshan Village.

Guo Jianwei, born in 1991, was a poor household in Renhepu Village. Now, he has "discussed" a new errand from the village committee, driving a large agricultural machine purchased for 300,000 yuan in the village and becoming an agricultural machine operator in front of his home. Not only saves the money to cultivate the land, but also earns an extra money.

Guo Jianwei said that this year he plowed more than 1,000 acres of land in his village and earned several thousand yuan. He also contracted to plant more than 100 acres of vegetables, and has sold more than 50 acres of vegetables. "This year's food prices are very good. The small goal I gave myself at the beginning of the year was 100,000 yuan, which seems to be achievable. I have to plan what to do next year. I can't wait to make money."

Che Shulin used to be a poor household in Renhepu Village. 16 years ago, his lover Cui Shuping was paralyzed by a car accident. Che Shulin pushed his wife in a wheelchair to work in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, and Beijing. When the old couple who had been wandering for many years returned to Renhepu Village, their old house was already in dilapidated condition.

When Che Shulin returned to the village, Liu Zengjie became the person responsible for his assistance. Carrying out the renovation of dilapidated houses and renovating the living environment... Nowadays, Che Shulin and his wife have already moved into a spacious and bright new house with running water. In March this year, Che Shulin also spent more than 40,000 yuan to buy two beef cattle and planted corn around the yard as cattle feed.

Che Shulin also serves as a public welfare post in Renhepu Village, earning more than 3,000 yuan a year. “When you give birth to a calf, you will have an income. The state has helped us too much, so I must work hard to move forward. Getting better and better."

Feeding, adding water, cleaning the cattle pen... Every morning when I wake up, Cao Wanfu of Wanshuiquan Village is busy in the cattle shed. A few years ago, he borrowed to contract land to grow vegetables, but the price of vegetables fluctuated, and the debt was as high as more than 200,000 yuan. After getting help from Bank of China Hebei Branch, he changed his mindset from planting to breeding. Now, Cao Wanfu has raised more than 30 cows and has become a famous farmer nearby.

Talking about future plans for life, Cao Wanfu was full of confidence, "This is just a good day, you can work hard, and hard work can make you rich."

"Breakers" in poverty alleviation: constant concern

"The significance of poverty alleviation work is not only to enable poor households to earn money, but more importantly, it allows them to break through barriers of vision, broaden their horizons of thinking, and stimulate endogenous motivation." Liu Zengjie confided his own voice on poverty alleviation work.

In 2018, Liu Zengjie, who took over from his former colleague to help the poor in Renhepu Village, was tanned by the sun on the dam. He and his team members visited every filed and registered poor household in the village to analyze the reasons and find the root cause.

53-year-old Zhang Haimin suffers from polio. He lives in a turf house and is ventilated in winter and leaks in summer. After Liu Zengjie entered the house to investigate, all parties ran, rebuilt his house, and funded him to carry out pig breeding, generating more than 10,000 yuan in annual income. This year, Liu Zengjie also contacted the hospital to perform surgery on Zhang Haimin's leg. The cost of the surgery will also be waived.

In response to the practical problems of the village’s summer adults busy growing vegetables and left-behind children unattended, Liu Zengjie persuaded his lover who is a teacher to start a summer camp at the village committee together, broadening the children’s thinking and horizons through various methods, and inspiring everyone to do the best Okay.

"To eradicate poverty, we must start with the baby, sow the seeds of self-confidence and hope for children, and block the intergenerational transmission of poverty." Liu Zengjie said that only when the ideological structure changes can the barriers to poverty be broken.

Zuo Qingli, 52, came to Wanshuiquan Village as the first secretary in March 2018. When they first arrived in Wanshuiquan Village, Zuo Qingli and two other team members squeezed into a house of less than 15 square meters to work and live. In this Bashang village, the winter is extremely cold, and the water for life is bitterly cold, and even the long pants are not "absent" in the summer.

Faced with such a situation, Zuo Qingli and the others did not stop. Actively contact industrial projects, organize and lead the village committees and representatives of villagers to go out for inspections, successfully implement the 100-mu greenhouse boutique vegetable industry project, and build 150 square meters of constant temperature warehouse...

Zuo Qingli is very busy recently, because he is contacting a chicory technology company, "The climate on the dam is suitable for growing chicory. If we can introduce such a technology company, it will definitely have good benefits." (End)
