Jamie Foxx in Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman's "Project Power" - Netflix

  • “Project Power” mixes action and science fiction around a drug that gives superpowers.
  • Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt steal the show to discover Dominique Fishback, amazing juvenile drug dealer.
  • This festival of action scenes is a Netflix exclusive.

The new blockbusters are not yet back in theaters but Project Power by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman allows you to wait pleasantly while waiting to be able to see them again on the big screen.

The duo responsible for Paranomal Activity 3 and 4 have turned the turbo to create effective suspense available from Friday on Netflix. 20 Minutes explains why this science-fiction thriller has plenty of assets to restore the taste of blockbusters to an audience in search of thrills.

Because the story moves

A new drug is all the rage in New Orleans. Just swallow a small, light-emitting capsule to transform into an almost invincible superhero for five minutes. Enough to make disreputable individuals lose their minds but also bring together a trio of shock: a policeman waving the badge, a former soldier broken by the loss of his daughter and a teenager who deals to support his sick mother.

I think it's safe to say that most of us would jump at the chance; after all, who hasn't dreamed of being able to fly, to turn invisible, or to be able to answer the phone when an unknown number pops up, but what if there was a chance that the pill could kill you instead? Well, that's the core of PROJECT POWER, an upcoming Netflix film which is equal parts crime thriller, action thriller, and comic-book style fantasy.

Because the action takes your breath away

The fighting scenes are crazy! As soon as the characters have taken the famous pill, they hit each other with obvious enthusiasm. A nervous staging and cleat editing do the job in the streets of New Orleans or in the middle of cramped containers. Anyone who wants to leave their brain in the locker room to see a good big fight well put together will be satisfied because Project Power is a festival of castagne.

Because Jamie Foxx deposits

This is the hero with a capital "h". Jamie Foxx, mass of muscles and charisma, reveals strength, tenderness, weakness and madness in equal parts to become endearing in a role of veteran daddy hen. It gives enough flesh to an archetypal character that the viewer will want to see him win against nasty villains and a greedy scholar.

Because Joseph Gordon Levitt is delirious

Chameleon actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has made a hell of a look to play a very rotten and drugged cop. He becomes unrecognizable when he loses his ball to the point of launching into mind-boggling fights. He is a little (a lot) afraid when he disappears in the shoes of this policeman with the methods that the Geneva convention would strongly condemn.

Because Dominik Fishback starts

Dominik Fishback is the discovery of Project Power . For her first major role in an action film, the young actress, noticed in 2019 in Jordana Spiro's Long Way Home , shows a volcanic temperament as a big mouthed dealer. She brings humor and freshness to a very harsh world and is absolutely crisp as the heroine she plays combines bravery and unconsciousness in a convincing way.

Because the special effects tear

A young woman transforms into Elsa's equivalent of Frozen in an action movie version and the balls bounce off the skulls. People transform into fireballs to do battle with their enemies! The director duo did not skimp on the visual effects to make everything fart around the protagonists. We do not sulk with pleasure as the whole gives off an energy almost giving the impression of having taken a dose of the famous capsule with magical powers.
