A great program! John Legend, The Chicks, Common and Billie Eilish are among the artists performing at the Democratic Convention, which will take place August 17-20 as part of the 2020 US presidential election.
Also expected on stage are Leon Bridges, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Porter, Maggie Rogers, Prince Royce and Stephen Stills. These artists will perform new songs but also classics from the American repertoire. On Monday evening, members of youth choirs from across the country will perform the national anthem.
A virtual convention
"These artists are committed to engaging with voters, registering them and mobilizing them to allow us to cross the finish line in November," said Stephanie Cutter, program manager for the convention at the US site Deadline .
Due to the coronavirus, almost all of the convention will take place virtually. The show will be orchestrated by Ricky Kirshner, who produced the Tony Awards and the Super Bowl halftime shows.
At this convention, Democrat Joe Biden will be officially nominated for the presidential election to face Donald Trump. He will deliver a speech Thursday from Delaware where he lives, which will be broadcast on American television and on the Internet.
