German football club Schalke announced yesterday that it has obtained permission to attend a limited number of fans in its second and third friendly match as part of preparations for the new season.

The local authorities agreed that 300 fans would attend the Schalke match against the third-division team Verle tomorrow at the "Park Stadion" stadium, which underwent repairs, and which was a stadium for Schalke before the team moved to its current stadium, "Veltins-Arena".

The Schalke Club stated that some fans will be able to attend a match, for the first time since the new Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic caused the competition to be suspended last season, before it resumed without fans.

He added that the same number of fans would be allowed to attend the team’s third friendly match, scheduled against the third division team, Ordingen, next Tuesday. Safety and prevention measures will be followed up, and these include keeping fans spacing out in the stadium, wearing masks, and banning alcoholic drinks.

Fans will enter the stadium with a dedicated ticket system for holders, in order to facilitate tracking of any infection case.

David Wagner, the coach of Schalke, will miss the efforts of Nabil Ben Taleb, as the 25-year-old Algerian player was allowed to search for a new team to play for, after he got into various quarrels with club officials.
