Restoration from the Great East Japan Earthquake "Miracle Piano" First local exhibition at Iwaki, Fukushima, August 11, 6:11

The "miracle piano" of a junior high school in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, which was restored to the tsunami after the Great East Japan Earthquake and was restored, is on display for the first time locally.

The "miracle piano" was used nine years ago at the graduation ceremony of the former Toyoma Junior High School in Iwaki City, was hit by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and was restored after that.

The piano exhibition began at the Iwaki Earthquake Disaster Miraikan in Iwaki City on the 9th, and high school students in the city performed a chorus with the piano.

The piano had some damage left after the tsunami, but the soft and thick tone was restored, and the visitors were listening to the beautiful melody.

After the disaster, the piano lost almost no sound due to seawater and mud, but the piano tuner in the city succeeded in repairing it by replacing over 10,000 parts.

Harunagi Suzuki, a 3rd year student at Iwaki Koyo High School, who accompanied the piano, said, “I played the piano with the desire to convey my strong hopes because it is a piano that has survived the earthquake. I want to go."

Mr. Hiroshi Endo, a restored tuner, said, "I think I'm finally back. I want you to use it as a communication without forgetting 9 years ago."

"Miracle Piano" is on display at Iwaki Earthquake Tradition Miraikan until October 11th.
