[Explanation] In the hot summer, the riverside and the riverside have become a sacred place for many citizens to go for children in the summer, but they are also the hardest hit areas that cause child drowning accidents every year. Recently, reporters walked into the water detachment of the Chongqing Fire Rescue Corps to learn how to prevent children from drowning.

[Explanation] On the slope protection of the Yangtze River dam, the reporter saw many children and adults playing on the riverside. Some citizens said that they often come to the riverside, camping and playing in the sand during the dry season, and come to enjoy the scene of the flood peak during the flood season. It is nicknamed the Chongqing version of the "Maldives", which attracts many people to take their babies to play and check in.

[Explanation] It’s great to play in the water, safety first. Firefighters from the Taipingmen Station of the Fire Fighting Water Detachment told reporters that the water looks calm but the bottom of the Yangtze River is not calm. And because of environmental constraints, the success rate of water rescue is much lower than that of land rescue. The drowning can lead to death in only a few minutes. If the professional rescuers are not notified in time, the chance of survival of the drowning person is almost zero. Therefore, the most important thing for children to drown is to take precautions. Firefighters actually demonstrated several common child drowning situations.

[Explanation] Children are playing in the water by the river. Although they have not entered the river, the waves generated by the passing boats are easy to attract children to chase, and when they retreat, they will drag the thin children into the river.

The seemingly calm riverside is actually not that safe. If a big wave comes over, children who may sit on the riverside and play will be drawn into the river.

[Explanation] Pump boats and ships docked on the riverside, as well as steel cables, anchor chains, and rolling hooks hidden underwater in the wharf, are all prone to danger. Once children approach, they can easily suck into the bottom of the barge from the bow and cause drowning. Being trapped on a reef beach in the middle of the river due to rising water is also a common warning for rescuers. If you are playing on a reef beach in the water, you should develop the habit of watching the water level once every half an hour.

[Explanation] Firefighters told reporters that it is wrong for children to hold hands when they are drowning. It is very easy to cause group drowning. The correct way is to call for help and throw floating objects at the drowning person.

[Explanation] Fire rescue personnel reminded that most children are in a state of panic when they are drowning. Even if they can swim, the chance of self-rescue is very small. Guardians must take responsibility and educate children to stay away from dangerous waters.

Parents must fulfill their guardian duties and must not let their children go to dangerous waters.
