The Ministry of Education has discreetly published on its site a document which outlines the contours of the next school year. In this text, wearing a mask and social distancing are recommended to prevent a resurgence of the epidemic.

These rules should be final before the start of the school year, "unless there is a sudden change in the health context", indicates the ministry in Le Monde . The new protocol, which replaces that of June 22, was sent to rectors, management staff and the entire educational community on July 20. Unsurprisingly, the school that we will find in September strongly resembles the one we left in July. Some differences should be noted: according to the health protocol, “in confined spaces […] physical distancing is no longer compulsory when it is not physically possible or does not allow all the students to be accommodated. ". And it no longer applies in outdoor spaces.

Authorized student mixing

Wearing a mask is compulsory for students over 11, indoors, outdoors and when traveling, "when a distance of one meter cannot be guaranteed". For staff, it is compulsory “in situations where a distance of at least one meter cannot be guaranteed”, except in kindergarten. The ministry says it has a sufficient stock of masks for staff until December 31.

For the start of the September school year, the new protocol also relaxes the rules relating to the mixing of pupils. Indeed, "the limitation of mixing between classes and groups of pupils is no longer compulsory". Schools will however have to organize the course of the day in such a way as to limit "as far as possible, large groupings and crossings".

The restriction of mixing is no longer compulsory in school transport. But college and high school students must wear a mask "if the distance between students can not be guaranteed." The cleaning rules are also relaxed. From now on, the provision of shared objects within the same class is allowed without disinfection conditions.
