By searching a container full of sacks of rice from South America, customs officers have made a success of their fight against drug trafficking. The customs surveillance brigade of the port of Loon-Plage near Dunkirk on Monday seized 1.3 tons of cocaine, we learned on Wednesday from a source close to the file.

No questioning

According to Phare Dunkirk , which revealed the information with France Bleu , the drug would come more precisely from Suriname. "Seizures rarely exceed a ton in France, it is in any case a record in Dunkirk," said this source, attributing this success "to the flair" of customs officers. However, the investigation is only just beginning. No arrest has indeed taken place for the time being.

The Dunkirk prosecutor's office relinquished jurisdiction in favor of the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Lille. The latter entrusted the investigation to the Lille judicial police.
