Emmanuel Macron visiting Lebanon, first head of state to visit

In view of the close ties that historically unite the two countries, it is not surprising that Emmanuel Macron is the first foreign head of state to visit Beirut since the disaster. The president is expected this Thursday in Lebanon, where he will be confronted with an "apocalyptic" situation: hundreds of thousands of people are deprived of shelter and resources there and the toll of explosions of at least 113 dead and 4,000 injured is still provisional. Expected at noon, the French president will visit the site of the disaster, meet with the main Lebanese officials and give a press conference around 6.30 p.m. local time before returning to France.

The heatwave from Thursday could last a week

Last week's heatwave may have been just a repeat. From this Thursday, a new episode of high heat should last a week in some regions, warns Météo-France. The episode will begin Thursday afternoon with a significant rise in temperatures which can already reach 35 ° C in Paris or 37 ° C in Aquitaine. Then a first heat peak is expected on Friday over the entire western half of the country. Temperatures should then drop over the weekend on the Atlantic coast, but other regions, such as Ile-de-France, should remain above heatwave thresholds. More than ever, the French will therefore need their bottle of water, without forgetting to inquire about the health of the elderly.

Faced with the accusations, Gérald Darmanin launches "the victim is me"

In an interview with Le Point published on Wednesday, Gérald Darmanin returns once again to the rape complaint he is facing. The minister has relaunched the media offensive by considering that he is the "main victim" of what he describes as "slander". “It's me whose name they dirty. It is to me that we attribute behaviors that I have never had ”, he is offended. “It's hard to live with. But I do not have the right to complain, ”however tempered the former Minister of Public Accounts.
