Egypt invited billionaire Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and Spice X, to visit the historical pyramids of Giza after he published a satirical tweet in which he said that "aliens" built these giant monuments.

"It is clear that aliens built the pyramids," Musk said in a tweet on Twitter.

The tweet sparked controversy and varied responses from the Egyptians among those who condemned Musk's position, calling for him not to deliberate long-ago conspiracy theories regarding the Giza pyramids, and others who chose to ridicule a method of response.

However, Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, who was formerly Minister of Tourism, took advantage of the American's tweet as an opportunity to market the effects of her country. "I follow your work with great admiration," I wrote on Twitter. "I invite you and Spice X to explore writings on how to build the pyramids and also to verify the tombs of the pyramid builders."

"Mr. Mask, we're waiting for you," she added, inviting the businessman to visit the pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Musk followed his chain of tweets on the topic by linking to a BBC article on the history of giant structures, describing it as a "reasonable summary" of how the pyramids were built.

Known as the Great Pyramid of 146 meters, Khufu Pyramid, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was built more than 4,500 years ago.
