On August 3, Shang Yulan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Urumqi Municipal Government, said in announcing the latest outbreak in Urumqi: “The current epidemic situation is still very severe, but under the impetus of a series of powerful measures, the overall situation is undergoing some positive changes. Especially with the increase in the number of cured and discharged cases and asymptomatic infections released from medical observation, we have further strengthened our confidence and determination to win the battle against epidemic prevention and control with the understanding and support of the people of all ethnic groups in the city."
According to Shang Yulan's report: From 0:00 to 24:00 on August 2, Urumqi City reported 28 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 8 new cases of asymptomatic infection. On the same day, 7 new confirmed cases were cured and discharged, and 4 new asymptomatic infections were released from medical observation. As of 24:00 on August 2, Urumqi has 586 confirmed cases; there are 114 asymptomatic infections.
Shang Yulan said that the total number of confirmed cases and asymptomatic infections in Urumqi has declined for 4 consecutive days, and the cumulative increase in the number of confirmed cases has slowed down compared with the previous period.
