A recent study has confirmed that humans can transmit an infection with the new Corona virus to domestic animals, such as cats and dogs.

Italian researchers conducted the study in northern Italy, especially in the province of Lombardy, and included 540 dogs and 277 cats who were living in homes with corona or high-density areas of infection.

Through the study, it was found that 3.4% of dogs and 3.9% of cats have developed antibodies to the virus.

The head of the German "Institute for Animal Health" Friedrich Loefer, Thomas Mittenleiter, said that the results of the study are not surprising, and said: "It confirms what we already know ... We assume that the virus is usually transmitted from humans to animals," adding that the study confirms the Institute's current assessment that Dogs or cats do not yet play a role in spreading the emerging corona virus, explaining that the influencing factor is the transmission of the virus from one person to another.
