China News Service, Wuhan, August 1 (Wu Yili, Li Wei, Zhouyi) A reporter learned from the Hubei Provincial Defense Index on the 1st that the water levels of rivers, lakes and reservoirs in the province are slowly falling, and the flood control situation is generally improving.

As of 15:00 on July 31, natural disasters since the flood season on May 1 caused 14.393 million people in 96 counties (cities, districts) in 17 cities (states, provinces directly under the jurisdiction of the province, and Shennongjia forest area) of Hubei Province since the flood season. The loss was 26.351 billion yuan.

In the coming week, the rainfall along the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River will decrease, and the inflow of Dongting Lake and other sections will gradually decrease. Poyang Lake will maintain a small flow outflow. The mainstream of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River will gradually fall from high water levels. However, Jianli to Jiujiang will continue to exceed the warning water level. In the coming week, some stations will withdraw from the warning level.

The Fushui Lake and Hutou Lake in Hubei Province continue to exceed the guaranteed water level. However, as the water level of the Yangtze River drops, the Fuchikou Gate and Jinkou Electric Drainage Station have the starting conditions to accelerate the efflux, and the water level will gradually drop. It is expected that the next week will be sunny, more rainy and less rainy. Temperatures in most parts of Hubei will be above 34°C. In some areas, forest fire risks will increase and floods and droughts will turn sharply.

The Hubei Provincial Defense Agency emphasized that during the water receding period, safety protection must not be taken lightly, and relevant departments will continue to strengthen dyke inspections and disaster relief and resettlement work. At the same time, prepare for the sudden turn of floods and droughts to ensure the safety of industrial and agricultural water and drinking water for the masses. (Finish)
