UN JOUR UN TUBE (24/32) - All summer long, Europe 1 invites you to discover a song that marked the summer every day. Today, focus on producer Max Martin, without whom many of your favorite songs would not have seen the light of day.

Behind a slew of summer hits is one man: Swedish producer Max Martin. A genius who can boast of having worn no less than 23 pieces to the first place of Billboard, the American top. Among them Baby One More Tim e by Britney Spears, released in 1998 and recently voted best first single of all time, but also  I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry, for example, or Shake It Off,  by Taylor Swift.

Effective and rhythmic verses

All these songs, sold and listened to millions of times, make one wonder: how does a summer hit come about? Is there a magic recipe? In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri , Max Martin gave some answers. For example, he says he was inspired by a technique that Prince uses: keeping the same melody in the verse and the chorus, and making effective and rhythmic verses.

We also find Max Martin behind Lady Gaga's Stupid Love, the  first single from his new album, Chromatica, number one in sales in the United States when it was released.
