"Chernobyl", directed by Johan Renck, was one of the big favorites before the British TV gala with three heavy nominations - best miniseries, best male lead (Jared Harris) and best supporting actor (Stellan Skarsgård).

However, it started badly when Skarsgård was without a price. The statuette for best supporting actor went instead to Will Sharpe for his role in "Giri / Haji".

But the Swedish-heavy series took revenge in the category best miniseries. "Chernobyl" succeeded in defeating "The victim", "The virtues" and "A confession".

No red carpet

Then Jared Harris also received the statuette in the category of best male lead for his performance in "Chernobyl". He then chose to pay tribute to Johan Renck.

- Johan is "badass". I would do this again with him without blinking, Jared Harris said over the video link.

Due to the corona pandemic, this year's Bafta Gala was held in a stripped-down version - without a red carpet and without an audience. Several prize givers participate via video link and the winners receive their prizes remotely.

A couple of weeks ago, the first part of Bafta's TV gala was held, where the people behind the cameras were praised. "Chernobyl" then became the evening's biggest winner, with a total of seven awards.
