The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanum Gebresos, congratulated Eid Al-Adha for Muslims all over the world. He also congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the steps it has taken to ensure the safety of pilgrims as much as possible this year.

Adhanum praised the measures taken by the Kingdom, noting that the Saudi measures are a perfect example of what countries can implement in order to adapt to the new situation, coexist with the virus and protect ourselves.

He said that the Covid 19 pandemic does not mean that life should stop, rather that it must coexist with it and that everyone lives his life while protecting himself and others from infection.

Adhanum announced in a press conference the establishment of a technical advisory group consisting of 22 experts from 16 countries, with expertise in several fields such as psychology, behavior science, social science, neuroscience, economics of behavior and social marketing, explaining that the advisory group will provide the organization with advice to advance the response to the pandemic.

He added that the countries asked their citizens to understand the danger that surrounds them because of the pandemic, and every country uses a set of tools that are appropriate for local communities, noting that enacting laws and imposing fines may be effective in combating the spread of infection.

He explained that 40% of the deaths associated with Covid 19 in a number of developed countries occurred in nursing homes, calling for the protection of the most vulnerable and most vulnerable segments of the disease such as the elderly, noting that young people are also not safe from the virus and may be infected with the type Serious disease.
