UN JOUR UN TUBE (23/32) - All summer long, Europe 1 invites you to discover a song that marked the summer every day. Today, "Sweet Dreams", from Eurythmics.

In 1983, a song with a somewhat dark appearance however made dance all summer: Sweet Dreams,  of Eurythmics. Dark song, because Annie Lennox, the singer of the group, is completely depressed as she writes it. With her musical partner, Dave Stewart, she feels like music isn't for her. Their first album flopped. So the duo creates  Sweet Dreams:  in two verses and that's it, Annie Lennox talks about this dream - to live from her music - which she cannot achieve.

Annie Lennox's Memorable Look

And luck turns: the title is a hit when it was released in 1983. It is also thanks to the look of Annie Lennox! Who marks the spirits, with her androgynous allure, her orange hair, her extravagant outfits, and then her provocations as in the clip of Love Is A Stranger, where she plays a luxury prostitute.

Eurythmics then followed the hits in the 80s, including  Here Comes the Rain Again . Then Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox separated in 1990. Both, with Eurythmics were appointed in 2018 to join the Rock'N Roll Hall Of Fame, one of the most prestigious distinctions in the music industry.
