- The prefecture of Nouvelle-Aquitaine has decided to place the Gironde, Landes and Lot-et-Garonne orange vigilance against forest fires from this Wednesday.

- The restrictive measures will apply in particular from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., until Sunday.
The concern is strong enough for the authorities. So after the fire at the start of the week which devastated more than 250 hectares of forest in the south of the Gironde and the very hot weather announced by Météo-France for the days to come, with temperatures above 40 degrees on Thursday, they decided to take the lead.
In consultation with the Departmental Fire and Rescue Services (SDIS), Météo-France and the Defense of Forests against Fires in Aquitaine (DFCI), the Prefects of Gironde, Landes and Lot-et-Garonne have decided to raise “forest fire risk” vigilance to orange level. That is to say high level 3 vigilance on a scale of 5 in their department, fromWednesday July 29 at midnight and for a minimum period of five days, i.e. until Sunday August 2, 2020 inclusive. The main objective is to prevent further outbreaks of fire.

Strict measures to be observed
Consequently, the following restrictive measures will apply in the exposed spaces of these three departments:
- The circulation and parking of motor vehicles will be prohibited between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on forest tracks, rural paths, logging paths and cycle paths.
- Logging, silvicultural, civil engineering, service, carbonization and sawing activities will be suspended between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- Recreational and sporting activities will be prohibited between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., with the exception of those carried out in leisure centers and in the perimeters of beach plans.
In addition, it is recalled that it is forbidden inside woods, forests and moors and this, up to a distance of 200 meters to use fire, smoke, throw any incandescent debris, incinerating green waste and prescribed burning, practicing isolated camping and bivouacing, and shooting public or private fireworks.
