Piteå municipality has previously given the green light to the event, but now the police announce that the event counts as a general gathering.

- We have talked to our lawyers and made the assessment that by advertising for Danny Saucedo to play, not for the food itself, he is the lure. Then it is a concert, a general gathering, says Peter Lundmark, acting head of the local police area Piteå Älvdal, to TT.

In the spring, the government decided on a restriction in the Public Order Act, which means that a maximum of 50 people may participate in public gatherings, this includes concerts and theater performances.

The show is canceled

Pite Havsbad, as reported by Piteå-Tidningen, has received approval from the municipality regarding how the tables are placed to reduce the spread of infection.

- They can still have him there, but then the limit of a maximum of 50 people applies and they must send a report about this to us, says Peter Lundmark.

However, this is not the case - Pite Havsbad confirms that they choose to cancel the event altogether.

CEO Kristoffer Lundström thinks it is sad that the police arrive in the "eleventh hour" and tear up the municipality's decision.

- We have had a dialogue with the municipality, which is the supervisory authority, and have submitted a business plan for how we will ensure that we keep distance between the tables. The usual restrictions that apply in a restaurant. We have very large areas, this room is approved for 1,000 people and we limited it to 250, he says.

Questions the assessments

That the police said stop is because it was just a famous artist like Danny Saucedo who would perform.

- If it had been you or me who had performed at this dinner, it would have been okay, then we would have had 250 people. What makes one judge that this is a public gathering is that it is an artist of a certain caliber. It is judged that the people do not come for the food but that they come for Danny Saucedo, says Kristoffer Lundström.

Exactly which events are considered to be public gatherings are decided on a case-by-case basis - and the assessments have looked different in different places.

-The biggest question I ask myself is why the assessment is made differently across the country, because we are not pioneers. This type of dinner entertainment has been carried out elsewhere in the country, says Kristoffer Lundström.

Danny Saucedo's manager Thomas Lööw tells TT that they have no comments.
