He noted "an upsurge in nuisance and incivility" in his town. On July 21, the mayor of the rural town of Janzé, in Ille-et-Vilaine, issued a municipal decree imposing a curfew on minors. The text provides for a ban on night traffic between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. for minors unaccompanied by an adult with parental authority in the town center of the town.

The elected official, who is entering his third term, had already implemented a similar decree last summer to deal with the incivility perpetrated by a small group of teenagers. The text adopted last week runs until December 31 and applies during all school holidays and weekends.

Already 30,000 euros in damage

In his decree, the mayor Hubert Paris specifies that minors defying the ban will be escorted to their home and that legal proceedings may be instituted against their parents.

Asked by Ouest-France , the elected official said that more than 30,000 euros of damage had already been noted in the town.
