Amber Heard is described as a 'compulsive liar'

After hearing more than 20 witnesses on the stand for three weeks, the time for indictments has come. If yesterday, Johnny Depp was described as "misogynist", "jealous", "drugged" and "violent" by the lawyer of News Group Newspapers (NGN), it is the turn of Amber Heard to be dressed for winter by the defense of the actor. Indeed, if the latter filed a complaint against the tabloid for having described him as a violent husband, it is his ex-wife who is mainly targeted by the indictment of Me David Sherborn.

Since this morning, he has taken all the elements of the file to prove that the testimony of Amber Heard, on which the newspaper article published in 2018 is based, does not hold water. The lawyer notably took up what the actress said at the bar about Kate Moss. The Aquaman star had explained that he hit her ex-husband to defend his sister while they were at the top of a staircase, because she had "remembered an information I had heard that he had pushed his ex-girlfriend - it seems to me it was Kate Moss - down the stairs, ”she said.

"Lack of credibility"

Amber Heard is not the accused in this trial - she will be, however, in an upcoming libel suit brought by Johnny Depp - but the main witness of the British tabloid against which the actor has filed a complaint. In British law, it is not for the complainant to prove that he is not a violent man, but for the newspaper to demonstrate the veracity of the comments published in its pages. And for the actor's lawyer, there is no evidence, mainly because the main witness "lacks" credibility.

Amber Heard was auditioned for three days, during which she changed the dates of the abuse she claims to have been the victim of as well as photos of her with bruises and beatings. She added elements that she had never delivered during her preliminary depositions. She was also accused at the bar by her former assistant, Kate James, of having "stolen my rape story, which I had told her, to make her own story and turn it to her advantage". If many elements of the life of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been made public, some have been mentioned during private hearings, including a charge of sexual assault brought by the actress against her ex-husband.

For Johnny Depp's lawyer, all of this proves one thing: Amber Heard is a "compulsive liar," words he "doesn't use lightly," and the Sun "hasn't done any research."

As to whether the Sun is indeed guilty of defamation, it will be for Judge Andrew Nicol to answer in a few weeks.
