Dai Yaoting, an associate professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for the illegal "Occupy Central" case. On July 28, 2020, the School Council of the University of Hong Kong launched a procedure to examine whether to fire Dai Yaoting. According to Hong Kong media reports, the University Committee of the University of Hong Kong approved the dismissal of Dai Yaoting with a large number of votes of 18 to 2.
