A 20-year-old man spontaneously presented himself to the police after the discovery of a body in L'Ariane on Saturday, a sensitive district of Nice, we learned from a judicial source on Sunday.

"This person gave himself up on Saturday around 5 pm, accompanied by a member of his family," said this source, confirming information from the regional daily Nice-Matin . The first explanations of the respondent evoke a dispute between him and the victim, who was also allegedly armed with a knife: the individual explained that he may have been able to fatally wound his opponent without doing it on purpose.

The victim discovered on Saturday

The man, whose custody could be extended, admits an argument, but the reason for which is still unknown. The victim, a 28-year-old man, was discovered on Saturday mid-morning in the garage of a building, the body with several wounds. This man of French nationality was known to the courts for drug trafficking offenses dating back to 2015.

The discovery of the body took place at the same time that Prime Minister Jean Castex, accompanied by Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and Minister of the Seals Eric Dupond-Moretti, was visiting Nice to announce various security measures after incidents which had enamelled the Mills, another sensitive district of the city, at the beginning of the week.
