The controversy raised by the presence of 12,000 people in the gallery in the midst of the coronavirus epidemic was starting to swell. To answer this, the Puy du Fou announced on Sunday that it would limit the number of spectators to its famous Cinéscénie to 5,000.

This device seems to raise concerns that could harm the serenity of our future spectators. As a result, the Cinéscénie will not welcome more than 5,000 spectators from its next performance. (2/2)

"In permanent consultation with the State, the Puy du Fou opened the Cinéscénie in 3 stands in compliance with the health protocol aimed at guaranteeing the safety of its spectators", explained the second French theme park. "This device seems to raise concerns that could harm the serenity of our future spectators", it was therefore decided to reduce the gauge "from [the] next performance" specified the management of the park located in Epesses, Vendée.

An SMS from Emmanuel Macron questions

The images of 12,000 spectators, all wearing a mask, had sparked a controversy on social networks. Some Internet users had particularly wondered about the legality of this outdoor spectacle while gatherings of more than 5,000 people remain prohibited in France. The date of its reopening had itself been the subject of controversy. The founder of the park, Philippe de Villiers, had made public an SMS from President Emmanuel Macron giving him the green light for the reopening. The gesture had been seen by some as a mark of favoritism.
