His assault had caused a stir in Perros-Guirec (Côtes-d'Armor) where he lives. But also in Ploumanac'h where he runs a restaurant. But there was no aggression. On July 17, it was an overworked man who decided to end his life who finally raised the alarm and explained that he had been the victim of an attempted murder at his home.
Owner of a restaurant on the pink granite coast (Côtes d'Armor), the man had recently acquired a hotel in Perros, which he ran with his wife. According to the Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor, it is this overwork that pushed the man to invent his knife attack.
Urgently transported to the hospital in Brest (Finistère), the man told his wife that he was the victim of an assault by a hooded man who stabbed him with a knife stolen from their house, before fleeing without a word. “An investigation for attempted murder was open. No break-in was observed in the house, ”recalls the prosecutor.
"A reckless suicidal gesture"
The scenario of this attack does not correspond with the material findings made on the spot, the gendarmes of the Lannion Research Brigade interviewed the alleged victim a second time on Thursday. The latter ended up admitting to having invented everything. Overworked, the restorer "would have pushed the tip of the blade into his chest in a reckless suicidal gesture, before coming to his senses and inventing this scenario to hide this moment of discouragement", explains the prosecutor.
This false case of attempted murder "unsuccessfully mobilized significant resources in investigative personnel and generated multiple and costly technical and scientific investigations", recalls the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor's office. The restaurateur could be prosecuted for these facts. An offense punishable by six months' imprisonment and a fine of 7,500 euros.
